The other day I was on reddit and I saw an article about Sexual Predator Paranoia

The article gives 10 examples of how we've gone too far in trying to protect our kids from sexual predators. It is one thing to reduce risk and create laws that keep our kids safe, but its something completely different when those laws fuel an unfounded paranoia. I fear it is becoming one of those situations where we are doing more harm than good, but few realize it. I'd love to hear others thoughts on this.

I have to agree. I was in a sex offenders class for my criminal justice major and while I hate actual sexual predators, many are being accused of being sexual predators without actually being so. I had a male babysitter as a child, that probably never would have happened now. I remember in this class that my professor talked about female children seeing their male parent naked and about how they shouldn't because it was probably just for sexual arousal on the part of the parent, but my dad and I used to go swimming at the local YMCA when I was five and he'd take me into the shower and locker room with him beacuse he obviously couldn't let me go alone. I feel sorry for men, especially that work with kids and are teachers or anything like that, because it's so easy for them to be labeled predators.

I just read the article, and OMG that's crazy. the fear for sex offenders have gone completely off the hook!
