| Colombia: Ingrid Betancourt is finally a free woman This piece of news is kinda related to me, for I have Colombian family and heritage, so I decided to share it with you guys. Unless you've been under a rock these days, you might have heard about the rescue of French-Colombian politician Ingrid Betancourt that took place yesterday, product of a very clever plan developed by the Colombian government against the guerrilla. Also add in here 14 other hostages, 4 of them from the United States (and which, btw, are already in Texas by now) In my opinion, this is a happy day for those of us who want peace in Colombia, and this is a huge step for defeating the guerrilla, who considered Ms. Betancourt the most valuable hostage they had. Kudos to the Colombian army who came up with the rescue plan! | I watched her arrival in France which was broadcasted live on the first channel two hours ago or so. It was very moving. She's extremely brave. I really admire her and I'm thrilled to see her alive and free after more than six years of captivity. I agree. | Elite Fan   | It does cast in sharp contrast the sheer numbers of people who have been taken hostage and are still in captivity. But this is excelllent news.
