Do You Know What's Really In Your Drink?

I couldn't believe how many calories some of these drinks have. I'm glad I don't like coffee. The drink that equals three cheese burgers really surprised me. So did the drink that is equal to drinking a quarter of a pound of sugar. Did anyone know these drinks were so loaded with sugar?

Revealing The Hidden Calories In Your Favorite Drinks

(01/25/05) — Think that smoothie is good for you? Think again. Believe it or not, some of the most popular drinks out there are also packed with hidden calories, fat and sugar that can make people pack on the pounds. How Many Calories Are You Drinking? Beverages are a significant, if little recognized, source of calories. Many dieters make the mistake of thinking they're doing everything right but are still not losing weight, because they ignore the calories they drink, said nutritionist Dr. David Katz. He calls these liquid calories "renegade" calories.

For instance, when you're drinking that Starbucks Frappuccino, you're drinking three cheeseburgers worth of calories. You also may be drinking more calories than you realize in other drinks, such as a small mocha latte from Dunkin' Donuts. "If you think about the 290 calories in it, then compare it to a small order of french fries from McDonald's," he said. But there are plenty of ways to have your favorite beverages while avoiding those renegade calories. "You've got to do portion control." Katz said. "Don't order the Venti. And use common sense. ... Recognize that that bottle of vitamin water is really two-and-a-half servings ... and it's sweetened with sugar. You just have to pay attention to what you're putting in your body. Don't automatically assume that just because it says 'water' it really is water."

The Numbers Behind the Beverages:
Dunkin Donuts Peppermint Mocha Latte in a 10-ounce cup

Grams of fat: 1g
Grams of sugar: 106g
COMPARE TO: A clear measuring cup of 106 grams [1/4 pound] of sugar

Yuck! I can't believe that!

Not only do I drink coffee, but I even drink the vitamin water, which I never would have thought was bad ...

Maybe I should stick to tea

That's why I just drink my coffee with a little bit of skim milk and two packets of non-sugar sweetener.

I drink it anyways. Not like I have a Caramel Macchiato every single day. It's a treat for me whenever I'm near a Starbucks store. I watch what I eat and drink and I walk tons so, I'm doing alright.

Yeah...I rarely drink coffee and I've also recently stopped drinking soda. That's got a LOT of sugar in it too. I mostly drink water and cranberry or orange juice...of course, they have sugar in them too. But at least they've got some redeeming features.

You know coffee itself isn't that bad. It's the cream/sugar/caramel etc. that they put into the the coffee that is bad. So the title is a little misleading.

As far as pop there is always diet. I actually prefer the taste of diet pop because regular is just too sweet for me.

Well, honestly, only on of those drinks have coffee in them.

And those Creme frappucinos are like, ugh. you can feel them clogging up your arteries. Although, I doubt the ones with coffee are any better, but still.

I think that it's a little misleading to say,"Oh, look how bad coffee is for you when you drink them in those froofy blended drinks," but only one of the drinks have coffee in them, and it's from dunkin doughnuts.

whatever, i'm still going to drink coffee and blended coffee drinks. I try to drink them in moderation because I know they're really fattening, but sometimes I just need a jolt of caffine.

How does Vitamin water have calories? Vitamins do not have calories! Fat, protein, and carbohydrates have calories but not vitamins.

I don't drink coffee of any kind, or soft drinks. Mostly water and two drinking chocolates a day (home made). I don't drink coffee because it's too strong, and soft drink has way too much sugar in it. I don't want to get diabetes (I'm at a slightly higher risk, all my grandparents have it).

Sorry. I didn't mean for the title to be misleading. I tried to edit the title, but it didn't work.
