| Christianity and Politics I'm not bashing really but I do find it awful how one political party thinks that dominant Christianity. You can be a Christian and a democrat. Who wrote the "rulebook" and said who HAVE to be or ALL Christians are SUPPOSE to be republicans If I was a republican, I'd have to turn away from my party because we have the viliage idiot running the country. __________________ Michael+Sara //Lex+Lana//Sam+Jason//NAYDEN//Kendall+Zach//Daphne+Niles//![]() ![]() | |||

| It's just stupid to say that all Christians should be Republicans. I guess it is because often Christians look quite conservative upon things (like abortion, sex before marriage and gay marriage), so for them it's natural to vote Republicans. But who said you aren't allowed to believe in God without hating gay's, for instance? There is no right way to believe in God, all Christians are different and that's how it should be. __________________ Sometimes l o o k s speak louder than words. - LoVe 2004-2007 | |||

| Christianity is linked to the Republican party mostly because in hte media atleast Christians are represented by Evangelicals. And they're are extremely right wing in their beliefs. Which is basically no gay marriage (or homosexuality in general), no abortion ect ect. And since Christians represent the majority of people in the US the Republicans go right after them and do whatever they can to make them like the Republican party. Even if that means lying to them according to David Kuo's book. | |||

| We should be talking about this soon in morality class, but like killing is a sin in the catholic face. But certainly there are some extraneous circumstances. Like I believe if you kill someone by self defense, so would the soliders fighting in the war would that be considered self defense? I think theres a whole rule/code for fighting a war and it being OK in the church. I'm not postive though. I really hate people who are like "Democrats can't be Christian." It's so stupid and offensive. Oh and my sister's in highschool and yesterday they made all the girls watch a movie on Amendmant 2. Of course it was biased. And then they had a speaker come talk who said that ambryonic stem cell research was equivilant to Nazi torture. I really don't think people should try to make you feel guilty if you're liberal. I remember back in the Kerry Vs. Bush election Bishop Burke said that it was a sin to vote for John Kerry because he was pro-choice. Last edited by rose parade; 11-04-2006 at 08:55 AM. | |||

| People can also be a republican and not be Christian. Just like people can be conservative democrats or liberal republicans. __________________ visit The Hunger Games Icon by Periwinkles | |||

| I’m tired of people assuming that since I am a Republican that I am Christian. I’m tired of telling people I’m a Republican and being told that the church is brainwashing me. I haven’t been to church since I was three, I am in no way religious. I know plenty of Democrats who are Christian. Saying that all Christian’s are Republicans is just a stereotype, it makes it easier to label people. It’s not right but it’s easy. There are a lot of Christian Republicans out there. The majority of Christians I know align themselves with the Republican party, but yes, I do know some Christian Democrats. Quote:

| I find nothing wrong with mixing your faith/religion into your politics. There have been many politicians including presidents of both parties that have been like that. I think Barack Obama had a great quote about religion and it really suprised me that he said it. Barack Obama: My faith shapes my values, but applying those values to policymaking must be done with principles that are accessible to all people, religious or not. Even so, those who enter the public square are not required to leave their beliefs at the door. I don't think it's wrong to be against something because of your religious beliefs. | |||

| But if you legislate on it and then people who aren't of your faith are forced to abide by it, that does not make it accessible to all people. Of course, your beliefs are part of your being - many Christians are strident anti-poverty campaigners. That's fine. But if they wanted to incorporate Christianity into a law - say, all people must attend church or homosexuality must be banned because its "sinful" in the eyes of God - that depends on your own personal faith. Why should I be forced to abide by your moral codes that are based on a God I may not believe in? | |||
