I just watched Britney Spears being intereviewed by Matt Lauer on Dateline. She defended having her son on her lap in the car saying that she is country and they do that. I would not know whether that is true or not but its certainly not safe. I found the interview good and hope the best for her in the future.

Regardless there are LAWS about having children in babyseats. If I got caught commiting a crime, I should expect to be punished. If I speed, I should expect a ticket. It shouldn't matter that she is a celebrity, she has to follow the same rules as everyone else.

Sorry, I feel NO sympathy for her, she made her own bed...now she has to lie in it.

I used to live in the middle of nowhere in Tennessee and I don't recall ever seeing someone drive with a baby in their lap.

Amen! You can't get special treatment for breaking the law just because you're a celebrity

It's too bad that the paparazzi has caught her again when she almost dropped her baby after holding it with one hand.

ITA, even if I feel a little sympathy for her because she's so young and so screwed up. But even screwed up you should put the safety of your baby first! I don't even want to imagine what could happen to the baby if there was an accident...
But I'm personally very strict when it comes to driving with any car... I even still check the seat belts of my sisters everytime they drive with me although they are already 17 now. I know they do it on their own but I still have to check...

But the suggestion that she wants to be left alone really doesn't go with the renewal of her contract for three albums. Seriously. If she really wanted to, she could have the time for herself and her son. To collect herself and take care of her child in privacy... she's got enough money.
And even though you have to learn being a mom: The fact that a baby belongs in a car seat while driving in the car shouldn't be a learning experience. It's a fact and law!
