First of all, I know there is a Britney Forum, but I wanted to talk about the news aspect of what's been going on with her. What do you think? Do you think her kids should be taken away? How do you think this will effect her custody of her children? Should CPS have investigated her already?

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- An appearance in family court sought by Kevin Federline amid a child custody dispute with Britney Spears was canceled Thursday as reports surfaced that she was back in rehab.

Spears returned to the Promises Malibu Treatment Center late Wednesday, according to reports from TMZ, "The Insider" and "Extra." Her mother, Lynne Spears, drove her to the center, "Extra" and "The Insider" said.

The 25-year-old pop star previously left the Promises center Wednesday, according to "The Insider," less than a day after arriving. The center specializes in treating drug and alcohol abuse.

Last week, Spears sought treatment at a center in the Caribbean but also checked out after a day, according to various reports.

Spears and Federline reportedly agreed Wednesday night that he would keep their two young sons while Spears was in rehabilitation, a program that takes between 30 and 45 days.

Superior Court spokesman Allan Parachini said Federline's attorney had contacted the court Wednesday and asked to make an appearance in which one side in a dispute can come into court without prior notice.

He said Federline lawyer Mark Vincent Kaplan called the court's bailiff Thursday morning "and indicated nothing is going to happen today."

It wasn't known what issue the 28-year-old Federline planned to raise.

"There was no official court date scheduled today and there is no future court date scheduled," Kaplan said in a statement issued by his publicist, Michael Sands.

"Kevin continues to be a very focused father with his children with hands-on management," the statement continued.

Federline sought spousal support and sole custody of Jayden James, 5 months, and Sean Preston, 17 months, after Spears moved to end their two-year marriage in November, but a temporary order issued Feb. 1 granted joint custody through this month.

Gina Orr, a publicist at Jive Records, Spears' label, did not respond to e-mail and phone messages.

Last Friday, Spears arrived at a San Fernando Valley hair salon, grabbed an electric razor and shaved her head bald. Afterward, she visited a tattoo parlor, where she had a pair of red-and-pink lips inked onto her wrist. Then she went out clubbing with friends before apparently checking into Promises.

Whether her recent behavior will damage her recording career is hard to say, said Vibe magazine music editor Jon Caramanica.

Spears, whose 1999 debut album, "... Baby One More Time," sold more than 13 million copies, hasn't released a new album since 2003. Before her troubles began she had promised one this year, and Caramanica suggested that might be a good outlet to address what she's going through.

"I think the best thing she could do is make an album that engages with this subject matter in some way," he said. "Not only to have a good album but to have an album that's a declaration of emotional health."

I think she's got issues but she has the resources to be able to get help. I worry more about people who have no money, have psychological problems and can't get the help they need.

The story is gettng was too much attention - fine if it's on ET or other entertainment shows. It's the lead story on CNN and that is just ridiculous.

Apparently she checked herself out again; clearly this girl (I know she's over 20, but she hardly acts her age) has issues that she hasn't dealt with and K.Fed now could have a chance in gaining custody of their two kids.

Personally, I really don't care, but she needs to get help before she becomes another Anna Nicole.

I just can't help but feel like yes, she's messed up but...she's a stupid selfish little girl. So what if she's 25. She decided she wanted to get married and have children right on top of eachother and she didn't want to stop getting drunk and partying and doing drugs (because she's clearly dealing with the effects of something other than alcohol addiction). So I have a hard time really feeling sorry or simpathetic for her. Plus, she's acting out and hurting other people. I know the paparazzi are annoying and she's probably frustrated as hell, but hitting one and their car with an umbrella is not okay.

It's just sad for her children and sad that she's had to get this low before the people finally decided to intervene. She's been spiraling down for the last couple of years, but the girl decided she wanted to be in control and make her own decisions, but sorry to say...she's not too bright. I don't see how she can come back from this and be successful again.

That's half the problem. It's like she thinks she's the next Madonna or something. Apparently she never got the memo that the pop craze ended a while ago. Yes, she sexed it up and does a good job of sluttin' around on stage, but she's a mommy now so enough is enough. Why not just focus on her lucrative perfumes or other products? Although after all of her stunts lately, who knows if those will still be successful.

I don't find her situation sad. I find it pathetic. She's someone who has more money and access to more resources than most of us and she's just been wasting it away on nothing.

Well, but that may be really a psychologic problem. There are people out there who need help, but don't recognize that they've got a problem.

Also, it's not only a bad situation for her, but also for her kids. I don't think they're better off with Kevin, really.

I do feel sorry for her. Seems like she's an ordinary girl who's been used by pretty much everyone (her mother, father, friends, boyfriends) and now everyone's acting all shocked because she's snapped. Come on.

On the upside, the shaved head looks kind of cute.

I think it's incredibly sad. Trust me, I'm no celebrity-phile, but when you look at Britney you can tell she's severely depressed - it's a psychological probem and she needs help. Yes, she has money and is able to afford it - but wealth isn't the issue for her. She needs real support from people who genuinely care about her, rather than all these hanger-on type of so-called friends who are encouraging her clubbing/out of control behaviour. I sure as hell wouldn't encourage a friend of mine to drink/go out all the time is she was in the same position as Britney. I know she's an adult etc etc and needs to shoulder the blame herself, but we all make mistakes and we turn to those we love to help us out...its what she needs too. People should back off. Also, the fact that her greasy slimeball of an ex basically sponged off her for two years and is threatening to take away her kids is gotta be a confidence killer.

I don't feel sorry for her, but I do feel bad for her kids, who are gonna end up crammed into a two bedroom apartment with Fed-Ex and his other spawn if she doesn't get her stuff together. You get yourself into a mess... you get yourself out.

It's possible she could even be dealing with post-partum depression.

Some of it might be PPD, but I don't think it's entirely that. She is one of the most famous people in the world, and had all the money in the world. What did she do? She married, then divorced 55 hours later. Not too long after that she married a man who left his pregnant girlfriend and then proceeded to get pregnant herself. After Sean P. was born, she got pregnant again right away. Yes, this works for some people, but not for all, and I think Britney falls into the latter. I don't think she was ready to be married nor to be a parent. I think if she did, she would be more private about her life. But she's not. She's always out in the open and everything she is doing, partying, drugs, boozing, etc is bringing down the public's image of her. And that's probably getting to her as well. She really does need help, if not for herself, but than for her kids. They need her to be able to be there for them, need her to look after them. She needs to grow up and be a responsible adult and parent.

It's kinda crazy to think that K.Fed is like...the responsible one in this and that he might be getting the kids.
