Bill Would Hold Game Makers Accountable For Players' Actions

Quote:
House Bill 2178 proposes to hold the makers and sellers of violent video games liable if someone under 17 years old commits a crime, due in any part, to playing the game.

That's right, if you kill someone now, its not your fault, its the games fault that you played. Ok.

Now we're going to start to give murderers walking tickets. It reminds me of an episode of Law and Order where the defense claimed that being racist is a mental disablity and they shouldn't be punished for killing they should given help and released. Why is it so hard to hold the people doing this accountable?

Video Games are like Rated R Movies: Everyone is a fan of them, people attempt to lie about their age just to get what they want, they both are big influences on the crimes that happens in our society...and on a light note..we bribe those 17 and older to get them.

I don't think that they have THAT much of an effect, but they do. Everything you watch/see/do affects you in some way. If you constantly watch negative things and play violent games it is going to affect you. That doesn't mean you will go out and kill someone, but it DOES effect you and your thinking.

That being said, I think this law is over the top. I just think there could be more restrictions on kids having access to violent games.

what a ridiculous proposal...

Where is parental responsibility ? Video games have ratings just like movies, if kids are underage, parents should take responsibility for their child playing the game, not the makers of the game itself.
