Thought we could start a thread dedicated to our new president-elect! Post clips, speeches, images, quotes anything!

The title comes from a while back, Obama's ten campaign promises from the David Letterman Show:

Thanks for starting this thread Jessie! You’re a great admirer of John F. Kennedy like I am, so I can’t help but think he’d be proud of this moment, and so would Robert F. Kennedy, and so would Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and our wonderful moderator, Caroline, said just that to me in a PM earlier.

I am so happy for this country, and I’m so proud of what Barack Obama has accomplished. He overcame so much to reach this pinnacle, and he was a class act throughout the rigorous campaign trail, from initially opposing Hillary Clinton for the Democratic Party’s nomination, to opposing John McCain for the presidency. He’s really impressed me with his eloquence and with his ability to bring all Americans together, and although he, as he acknowledged, has a daunting challenge ahead of him, I think he’ll rise to that challenge, and, aided by his very able and experienced Vice President, Senator Joseph Biden, I think he’ll form a great Administration that will propel this country in a positive direction.

I’d also like to remind everyone that this is an appreciation thread for President Elect Obama, so if you have anything negative to say, please post your comments somewhere else. Thanks.

Well I'm honestly not a fan, though I'm not an anti Obama person either, it's amazed me the polarization he has created. On one side he's made people incredibly happy and proud, and on the flip, people are filled with amazing amounts of vitriol. If anything else, it's going to be a very interesting few years to come.

But when I saw the title, I had to pop my head in, it certainly was eye catching!

I am not sure he was the one behind the polarization myself but I think this past election really split and divided people and even within each other..back to when he and Clinton were running and then when Palin joined McCain that gained them supporters and split people up even more. but I guess the whole history isn't relevant in here. Politics has always divided people.

Well as long as you follow rules you should be ok. Jerry was probably thinking about other posters on here who might not be so happy he has won president and might just pop in to do some bashing. Some other guy got banned apparently

Oh I wasn't blaming him at all for the polarization. It just seemed to be a fact of the country at this point in time. Honestly, if anyone is to blame, it very well could be Bush. I just found it very interesting that there seemed to be very little middle ground when it comes to the president elect. He is either truly admired, or people don't like him at all. I find myself to be one of the few in the middle. But I think the fact that the support he has is so emphatic will certainly help to at the very least, boost the morale in this country some.

Anyway, don't worry about me following the rules, I'll leave ya'll in peace, I've been going on too long as it is

Personally, I don't think Obama has polarized this nation anymore than it already was... for the past several years there has already been a divide. Four years ago was even closer, more divided... at least this year there are people who voted for McCain but are still happy for Obama's win and what it stands for - you definitely wouldn't have seen that four years ago.

Anyway, to celebrate, I made some Obamicons!

Over 24 hours later and I'm still freaking out about how awesome this is . I keep watching the news and its not getting old its just as amazing to watch now as it was 24 hours ago. I have seriously slept like only 3 hours the last 24 hours lol. So I'm gonna try and settle down and get some sleep.
