So will this mean we have 2 coalitions in this country, Libs&Nat then Labor&Greens&Indy?

Be set for 3 years of nothing!

Do coallition government really fail to accomplish much of anything, though? That's not been my experience.

I think it depends on the coalition, if the indies and greens want to get their way they could hold the government to ransom until they get things their way on everything Labor wants to do.

But apart from saying sorry and getting rid of work choices what did Labor really do over the last 3 years?

I have no idea.

But then again, except in cases of making history with its first female PM or massive forest fires devastating the landscape and endangering thousands, we don't get much by way of Australian news around here.

Floods hit Queensland, Australia

Parts of Queensland have been flooded after extreme thunderstorms at the weekend.

Thunderstorms unleashed downpours across the state with rainfall totals reaching 250mm (10 inches) in parts of the Gold Coast area from Sunday to Monday.

According to the Australian Bureau of Meteorology, about 150mm (6 inches) of rain had drenched the state capital Brisbane by Monday afternoon, giving rise to flash flooding which inundated homes and businesses.

Brisbane police said several drivers had to be rescued from stranded vehicles, and many roads around the city were closed due to the flooding. Strong winds associated with the storms also brought down trees and cut the power to more than 20,000 homes.

The heavy rain is forecast to ease during Monday allowing officials to continue with the clean-up operations.

I'm sorry this is only a snippet, but I have to admit that I'm at bit at a loss when it comes to finding decend Australia-region news.

I hope everyone we know is safe and the damages are minimal.

I saw that. I hope everything continues to be as positive as it can be, under the circumstances. Water is tricky. It can be far more damaging than it appears to be.

I did see on the news a newly laid road costing millions of dollars was destroyed and will have to be re-built, we've mainly had a few pot-holes around here, most appearing in the same place as old ones.

Holy cow. Hearing impaired, missing part of her leg, and survived cancer twice.

Yeah, I'd be looking at stepmom and dad, too.

Who would do something so horrible to such a defenceless creature?
