| 9/11 Widows Group To Endorse Kerry The article is here if you would like to read it.... news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20040914/ap_on_el_pr/sept_11_widows_kerry This is a very interesting turn of events. I am a Kerry supporter and I would not have suspected that this group would be joining him. This race is really starting to get down to the nitty gritty. __________________ Gandolf-"So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. | That's cool, although I've never understood why non-ideological groups get together to endorse a candidate. I mean, it's not like the 9/11 Widows are bound by a philosophy; I find it hard to believe that ALL of them are supporters of Kerry. Just like I find it hard to believe that the NY firefighters etc. are ALL supporters of Bush. So that type of thing just always seems weird to me. ETA: Nevermind, that doesn't really seem to apply to these women since it's just one group of them. | |||

| Yes it's definitely not all of them, I think it's just one of the most vocal groups. __________________ Gandolf-"So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us." | |||

| No, this group is not representative of all 9/11 widows. This group of widows demanded a 9/11 investigation which resulted in the 9/11 commission. Here is another article. "President Bush thwarted our attempts at every turn..." You can access the article by being a subscriber or by trying a free day pass. I suppose I could post the whole article if you would like. I'm not sure if it is too lengthy. Excerpts... On Tuesday, the widows cited the invasion of Iraq as one of their top reasons for supporting Kerry. "Unfortunately, before the work in Afghanistan was complete ... this administration moved our most precious resources, America's sons and daughters, into Iraq, without the support of our allies. Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11, and that is what we learned from the 9/11 commission's final report," said Lorie Van Auken of East Brunswick, N.J. "Sept. 11 was an enormous intelligence failure, and yet nothing was done to fix our intelligence after 9/11, and that same intelligence apparatus took us into Iraq. So it's doubly frustrating to learn that Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11." The women said they approached Kerry about the endorsement, not the other way around. Their requests to meet with Bush were rejected. __________________ Sometimes, when I look at myself through the microscope of cold, hard objectivity, I think to myself, "God, you are awesome!" | On Tuesday, I saw Kristen Breitweiser on CNN's Inside Politics. She has been one of the most outspoken if the 9/11 families. She said that she had expected Bush, whom she and her husband that she lost on 9/11, voted for in 2000, to be the biggest advocate for the families and instead he blocked the investigation every step of the way. She said that the thing that made her finally decide to support Kerry was the republican convention. It really bothered her that they used 9/11 in the political way that they did. She is really a very sincere and compelling person. I saw her on CSPAN prior to the republican convention and people called in and attacked her for being a Kerry surrogate. It was quite disgusting. | |||
