What if the guy just wasn't feeling well or whatever? I mean seriously! Does the fact that a guy makes a certain gesture or expression really have ANY effect on his ability to run a country? In the BIG picture I think not!

Oh come on! Look at his behavior all week. Lying to Letterman about rushing back to Washington and then giving an interview to Couric. "Suspending" his campaign and then giving interview after interview and having his attack dogs on tv all day spinning his leadership skills. Saying that he went in and saved the economic bill when one was agreed upon before he even arrived in Washington. He delayed it more than anything else. He said he worked all weekend with Congressional leaders when he stayed at home. McCain is showing really bizarre and erratic behavior and yes - it does affect his ability to run a country.

Too bad if he was sick or whatever. Tough you know what. I've had to work and meet my responsibilities plenty of times when I was sick or just not feeling like it. Unless you're in a hospital bed it's not an excuse and if our nation is ever under attack again or facing another major problem - I don't want to hear or feel that the President isn't feeling well or having a bad day and hand it over to Palin to solve.

His character and how he or she deals with hardships, problems and crises is very good insight into how he would deal with his Presidency. It's not the whole picture but it gives you an idea.

His actions over the last week do have meaning I agree. But gestures & expressions should be left for members of the View to debate over. Not CNN.

Maybe you're right. All snark aside because those women on The View asked tougher questions of McCain than he'd ever get from anyone at CNN. Don't forget - Barbara Walters was a journalist when journalism actually meant something - not now when all you need is a photogenic face and a good speaking voice. If I remember correctly they asked McCain about his lies in his ads and he couldn't say anything - just act disdainful.

Come on - Wolf Blizter ask a serious question? Dana Bash? These journalists all go to barbecues that McCain throws at his many homes. Why are they the serious journalists? Just because they say so?

Yeah..this is bad. If credit dries up for people with good credit then it will be a problem. That's already starting.

The dow is down almost 600. Wachovia is starting to collapse (which is going to be HORRIBLE for my city of Charlotte; there are 20,000 Wachovia employees here). This is really bad. Really, really, REALLY bad. Our economy is imploding.

Yeah, things are about to get interesting. I'm lucky, I'm going into a field that's high demand and is never going to dry up, but, that being said, I'm not looking forward to having to buy a house, take out a loan, move, do many of the things I'm going to be doing in less then a year. Things are going downhill fast. I just hope our economy makes it to November.

Yeah. Doesn't that war cost 10 million/billion a month?

The Iraq war certainly does not help matters (and it's 10 billion per month), but I think what's lead to this point is more the conservative philosphy of deregulation, tax reduction and encouraging people to spend more than they can afford, both on homes and stuff in general. The amount spent on Iraq/Afghanistan and the huge deficits just reduces the ability of the US government to react to a crisis like this.

If Iraq/Afghanistan hadn't happened, chances are the Republicans would still have been in power and pushing tax cuts and deregulation, and this meltdown would have happened anyway.
