Cindy McCain accuses Barack Obama of endangering her son in Iraq - Telegraph

I did a quick google on Cindy's comments from yesterday - here's the relevant line:

Quote:
"The day that Sen Obama decided to cast a vote to not fund my son when he was serving sent a cold chill through my body," she said. "I would suggest that Sen Obama change shoes with me for just one day and see what it means… to have a loved one serving in the armed forces and more importantly, serving in harm's way."
On Tuesday she said that Obama was running the dirtiest campaign in history. Cough, cough. She forgets 2000 when the Bush people were running around saying that her husband fathered an illegitimate black child. She also must have been really cold when her husband voted the same way on another bill and didn't support the latest G.I. bill from this summer.

I think it hurts the whole process when a candidate like Palin is kept under wraps and only allowed to speak in certain circumstances. Considering how she screws up when left on her own you can understand why they do it.

Ofcourse Cindy won't say her husband has played dirtier and hello, McCain voted against veterans funds and the GI Bill. Let's say half the politicians in the States are endangering the troops then including her own husband.

Whoopi debunked this on the View. She said it was not all the way truth.

In my opinion, this election has been pretty tame compared to 2004, when the country was very divided at it seemed like Civil War might break out at any moment. Compare this election to the Swift Boat ads, reports of campaign signs being burned, etc. I haven't seen, or heard any major incidents like these yet. And I am optimistic we won't have a repeat of 2000, where votes aren't counted or sabatoged.

I think the unifying facotr wasn't necessarily Barack Obama, but the economy itself. Economic failure tends to override everything else including political affiliation and even religous beliefs when people are out of work, can't put food on the table, or make their mortgage payments. It would be very interesting to see how this election would have played out in better times where there would be possibly less at stake... Like in 2004. Would Barack Obama stand the same, better or less of a chance of being the first African American U.S. President in greener times than now when people are desperately looking for change?

LOL. Does Cindy McCain not remember the 2000 primaries between McCain and Bush? Because I swear even THAT was nastier than Obama is being to McCain now. I think maybe Cindy is flustered because even the Republicans are pointing out that her husband seems...well, to quote SNL, like a raging maniac, and she's decided to blame that all on Obama instead of his obviously out of control temper.

Honestly? I think this is just the beginning. If Obama wins........I think that will bring out the crazies. And if he loses? I think that will make people cry racism and make people even more apathetic about voting.

I think the tone of this year's campaign is worse because of the race factor. It's out there whether people want to admit or not - some of it overt and some of it subtle.

Have we ever heard a "kill him" shout out at a Presidential campaign rally? Not that I remember. I just read that a McCain supporter is talking about Obama's past drug use which is something that Obama has always been upfront about. Palin saying that Obama is not like us?

The swift boating of Kerry was mild compared to this. Obama is leading right now but that lead could shrink if any of this stuff resonates. That's what McCain and his staff are hoping for.

Obama wrote about his drug use years ago. That is old news.

I think Obama needs to hit back and hard.

Sex and the City, the S3 affair between Carrie and Mr. Big

Was anyone else bothered by the way McCain was pointing at her to do things after the debate. It was like she was a dog.

The audience member from the debate on Tuesday night actually did know about Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac:

Questioner: 'I actually did' know Fannie - First Read - msnbc.com

Quote:
7. How did I feel about Sen. McCain stating “You probably never heard of Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac before this.”
Well Senator, I actually did. I like to think of myself as a fairly intelligent person. I have a bachelor degree in Political Science from Tennessee State, so I try to keep myself up to date with current affairs. I have a Master degree in Legal Studies from Southern Illinois University, a few years in law school, and I am currently pursuing a Master in Public Administration from the University of Memphis. In defense of the Senator from Arizona I would say he is an older guy, and may have made an underestimation of my age. Honest mistake. However, it could be because I am a young African-American male. Whatever the case may be it was somewhat condescending regardless of my age to make an assumption regarding whether I was knowledgeable about Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

Jon Stewart takes a side off the stage.

Quote:
If anyone had any doubts as to whom Jon Stewart supports for President, they were cleared Tuesday night at the Project ALS benefit at the Waldorf-Astoria.

Host Ben Stiller called Stewart "America's young elder statesman of political comedy" and surmised that on his Comedy Central sendup of the news, Stewart "can't take sides."

"Oh," said Stewart. "I think it's pretty clear.

"Neither of them is perfect, but if you, out of nowhere, are going to grab a woman out of the woods and make her your vice presidential candidate, what can I do?

"[Sarah Palin] is like Jodie Foster in the movie 'Nell,' " Stewart continued. "They just found her, and she was speaking her own special language.

"Have you noticed how [Palin's] rallies have begun to take on the characteristics of the last days of the Weimar Republic? In Florida, she asked 'Who is Barack Obama?' Hey, lady, we just met YOU five f-ing weeks ago."

Stewart had to skip the presidential debate to attend the gala, as had Chris Rock, Letterman producer Rob Burnett, songwriter Amos Lee, a fetching Sarah Silverman and her on-again love, Jimmy Kimmel, all at the behest of Stiller. The "Madagascar 2" star was childhood friends with Jenifer Estess, who founded Project ALS with her sisters; she died of the motor-neuron disease after being diagnosed at 35. The foundation has since raised $40 million for breakthrough stem-cell and gene research at Columbia and Harvard.

Rock did note, "We're missing the debate right now. Probably McCain is asking Obama, 'Could you go get me my car?'"

Silverman, who was just attacked by McCain supporter Jackie Mason after posting her YouTube video asking young Jewish liberals to "schlep" to Florida to convince their grandparents to vote for Obama, had her own zingers.

"You know, this is a nonprofit," said Stiller, "so we should probably poke fun at Obama, too."

The comics paused for awhile, until Stiller finally said, "I know! Barack Obama has big ears."
Sarah Palin unappealin' to Jon Stewart

LOL @ "She speaks her own special language" and "Hey lady, we JUST met you!" I love him. So very much.

I love Jon Stewart and The Daily Show.

I guess General Petraeus agrees with Obama.
