Student, 13, Arrested With Loaded Gun, Knives

Boy Faces Felony Charge

Houston -- Officers arrested a 13-year-old student Wednesday afternoon who was armed with a loaded gun and knives, authorities told Local 2.

Houston Independent School District police took the student into custody at Pershing Middle School, 7000 Braes Blvd. in southeast Houston, at 2 p.m.
Police said the boy had a 9 mm gun and six knives.

There's no word on why the student brought the weapons to school or where he got them.HISD officials said there was no indication that the boy was trying to hurt anyone.

A tip to HISD police led to the arrest, which was made without incident.The boy faces a charge of unlawfully carrying a weapon, which is a third-degree felony.Letters were sent home to parents about the incident.
