Tom Welling at Comic-Con 2009! *may contain spoilers*

As previously posted in the News thread:

Quote:
Warner Brothers has confirmed that Tom Welling will be with the entire rest of the assembled cast at Sunday's Comic-Con Smallville panel. They have also announced that Tom is now a co-executive producer on the show.
I've started this thread exclusively for posting and/or discussion of Tom-related interviews, news, links, etc. from his first-ever appearance at Comic-Con!

As Tom's fans know, it's a really big deal that he's attending, so let's share and enjoy!

Please keep in mind that spoilers about Smallville in general should not be posted in this thread. Thanks for keeping discussion centered around Tom/Clark as much as possible.

I'm almost planning my day around this.

That audience is going to be so lucky...to see Tom there in person, and to hear him answer questions as an actor/director/co-executive producer...what more could a fan ask for.

So ..

* TW's directing TWO episodes.

* There is a S

* There is a costume.

* Clark will be falling for Lois just as she is falling for someone else. (RBB/Supes)

* Lex isn't dead.

* Toyman is coming back. Geoff Johns is writing another episode about JL (?).

* From Natalie Abrams at E!: Sneak peek: Montage of Clark turning into the red/blue blur and his path to becoming a hero. "And he is not alone" Justice League is there with him! Aquaman, Black Canary, Impulse, Cyborg, Zatanna, Martian Manhunter, Supergirl and Green Arrow, plus the Legion. Don't forget Watch tower. Zod returns: "Kneel before Zod!" Callum shown fighting with Tess. Lois is fighting in the future. Chloe with the gun. Oliver and Lois seem to be getting closer. Brian Austin Green looks freaky. Love scene between Lois and Clark. Showing a version of Clark in the future. Was that Lex on screen? Clark in a black cape with the S on his chest.

* Tag line for s9 -- "the world's greatest hero has risen."

* Per Natalie again: When is Clark going to fly? Brian says tune in to the season premiere because they address it then.

Pic of Tom at CC credit to @SharanTV. Lucky lucky woman. I sooo need to work in publicity

Tom Welling has been spotted waving to fans from the 2nd story of the WB Booth at Comic-Con! Class act!

Nice mention of Tom from Screen Rant's recap:

Quote:
This was Tom Welling’s first ever Comic-Con appearance. Knowing he’s a rather private man, it showed to me this wasn’t his perfect comfort zone. But he did engage the audience well. It was great to see everyone up on the panel.

An interesting tidbit I haven't seen anywhere else:

Quote:
Kelly wants Jeph Loeb to write an episode…and he’d be interested in doing so.
Oooh yes!

That would be great! He hasn't been involved with SV for a long time, but I'd definitely welcome back his work on the show.

Actually Loeb still keeps in touch with the TPTB because Geoff Johns is a friend of his and he mentioned when he did press for Legion that Loeb is part of the reason that PS3 asked GJ to write an episode.

Some interesting tidbits from Kelly and Brian from the press room about Clark:

Quote:
Season nine will be following what will be the last stage of what Clark does before he become Superman, Peterson says. But they are not approaching this as the last season of the show. In fact, they hope to keep it going for a while – despite the fact the show is moving to Fridays.

“We came into this season with 100 ideas, we have a lot of stories,” Souders says. “The studio wants to satisfy the fans. They are not going to tell us in episode 21 ‘Let’s end it.’ They are going to give it time.”

Among some of the things we will see in season nine is Clark training with Jor-El as he struggles with his identity.

We will also see in the series premiere for season nine the show explore why Clark doesn’t fly and the current look he has.

“We will see a different side of Clark,” Peterson says. “This will be the final stage of deciding what he wants to be.”

Oh, I didn't know that...interesting about Loeb and Johns, thanks for mentioning it.

I'm sooo pleased to hear about this. I think that building up to the ending of this particular show is very important, given the nature of the story.

I've been wondering about that for quite some time, so this is great news.

Ooh, cool, bring on the premiere!

Also from Natalie Abrams at E!:

Quote:
Brian and Kelly just teased that we may see a living Jor-El in the new season.
How cool would that be?

Also Craig at K-Site found out that Callum, Cassidy and Justin will be in 16 episodes. Kelly confirmed Erica will be in 18 which I think will benefit the show A LOT since one of the problems last season was the awkwardness of the storylines and how disjointed things where when only 3 or 4 cast members would in an episode.
