I never really watched Smallville, just some episodes and scenes now and then. But I liked what I saw. It's just that I have a hard time starting a new show when I know it has so many episodes and seasons already

I know what you mean. But I think that's the exciting part. You get to enjoy a whole new show for yourself that has already finished. I didn't come in to it until 2008, so I was pretty late to it. I'm actually bad at watching shows that are still on air cause I always tend to discover them years later. I definitely recommend you watch all of Smallville when you can.
