I liked them together because it was nice for the writers to finally show that Clark can feel so strongly to a person name is not Lana.

However, I wondered why he automatically felt she was his soul mate.

... seems like he felt something with Kyla that he never felt with anyone (up to that point) before.

I actually re-watched it probably three months ago... I know they had a meeting an the cave and they had this intense chemistry but ... don't get why he saw her as destiny... seems I gotta re-watch it yet again.
