Hey guys!!!! I'm back!

First off, thank you so much again Steph, for helping to look after the board while I was away, I really appreciate it.

I had the most AMAZING time in Vancouver. It was such a wild trip and my mum and I packed in a LOT each day so we are absolutely exhausted. A little jet lagged I can tell you! We got home at 5pm yesterday, but we had been up for at least 30 hours as our flight was at 6:35pm on Monday evening but we got to the airport as soon as we checked out of the hotel before 11am so we were at the airport all day. Anyways.

We got up early at 5am on Monday 1st morning and the taxi picked us up to take us to Heathrow airport at 6am, which was about a 4 and a half hour drive, arriving at the airport shortly before 11am. I find going through airports pretty stressful. Especially now you pretty much have to do everything yourself, printing off your own boarding passes, (we actually did that at home the day before) and the bag tags. And the queuing to the checking in the bags was a long wait, and then going through security, but that wasn't so bad this time (I went straight through). Being on the plane is the best part and I LOVE the feeling of taking off into the skies. The flight was lovely. Food was MUCH better this time and it went by like a breeze - 9 hours is a long flight unless you're enjoying it!

We stayed at the Holiday Inn & Suites Downtown Vancouver. Our room was ok, but not as nice as the one we had in Toronto. The beds were very comfortable but the bathroom was not great and the shower was very dated. But, since we were going to be out and about each day pretty much all day, it wasn't a huge deal. The restaurant there wasn't as great either, but that also didn't matter as much 'cause we went out to eat most days.

So, on the Tuesday morning, our first day in Vancouver, we walked down to the harbour, on the way to Stanley Park which is a 1,000 acre public park. On the way, we found the Marine Building aka the Daily Planet on Smallville! As we turned the corner of the street and I immediately recognised the building. It was quite surreal. Here's some pics, of outside and inside the building!











There are two cafes inside the Marine Building, JJ Bean and Tractor Foods, we went to both of them for breakfast on different days, which means we visited the building a few times in the week! Which was awesome. This pic was from inside JJ Bean, they had a couple of images of the building which I thought were interesting. I took the pic of this one as it was my favourite of the two. I uploaded this pic and one of me outside the building on instagram on the day, so you might have seen them.

It's nice to see your beautiful photos! I really cain't believe that the Daily Planet set is so much like the actual Vancouver building. I guess the production design people took a little help there. And, is that the Watchtower building?

I am glad you had a good trip. Did you see any dolphins or any other sites? How was the rainy weather that Tom always complains about?

Hi Fatima! Yeah, it was so cool to see inside the building, 'cause they really did build the set on the show just how it looks in real life! No, that last pic is of the Marine Building/Daily Planet. The Watchtower Building is the Sun Tower which is in North Vancouver, we didn't go see that particular building, but it does look pretty similar to the Marine Building! Here's a pic for comparison.

On the Wednesday, we went whale watching. We saw a few Orcas, but no other dolphins and no whales. But we did also see seals, sea lions and bald eagles. We were keeping our for Humpback Whales, but unfortunately didn't see any that day. We went with Vancouver Whale Watch, which is based at Steveston in Richmond. There's another Steveston Whale Watching company called Steveston Seabreeze which I follow on instagram, and they posted only yesterday saying they saw Humpbacks and it was a sunny day - (it was an overcast day when we went). The weather actually wasn't too bad! In fact, the first day it rained properly was on the Sunday, our last full day! Tuesday was a mix of sun and clouds, Wednesday was overcast but no rain, Thursday was gorgeous bright sunny clear blue skies, Friday was overcast and only a drop or two of rain and Saturday was pretty sunny! So I think we were quite lucky with the weather. The first half of October in Vancouver is generally not too bad, the rain really only kicks in during the second half of the month. Apparently last year, it rained every day in November!
