Thought I'd start this thread in anticipation of the new series due to start in a few days.

I hope others will join me!

So, what do YOU want to see from this year's BB? After the kicking the brand has (quite rightly) taken recently, I want to see the show get it's fun factor back. I'm fed up of it being an all out bitch fest with mind games and backstabbing, let's get back to the original format where having a laugh and not taking everything so seriously is the order of the day, please!

Another random question to get the thread going - who has been your favourite winner so far? My vote goes to Nadia from the fifth series, Lipgloss Bitches ruled and she was the best of them all!

It seems like the US version has taken that turn too. Our first season was much more lighthearted and fun. I'm afraid it might be too late to go back though.

I'd say our version managed to maintain the lighthearted fun factor for the first three series, then it all changed. The fourth one was so boring that nobody even remembers it. From the fifth series up till the present day it's all been about getting wackier/more outrageous housemates in every year, playing ridiculous mind games and delibaretly trying to stir up controversy. I want it to go back to the good old days, but I don't think there's much chance of that.

This year they will have to work hard to maintain the right balance between not totally stirring it up and not making it totally dull by doing nothing. In our most recent celebrity version there was worldwide scandal and political debate (which you may even have heard of) when three of the housemates bullied and racially taunted Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty. The issue was all over the papers, discussed in parliament and caused outrage across the globe. Channel 4 (who air the show) were hammered for airing the offensive material. Endemol (the company who make the show) were hammered for not stepping in and putting a stop to the whole thing. They are being forced to make a live on-air apology three times at the start of this years series. Basically, they simply cannot afford anything like that happening again and will have to traide a very fine line with the show this time around.

I.. kinda don't know what to expect from this series. They're definately going to have to be far more careful with who they're putting in, because they certainly don't want a repeat of Celeb BB. But they have to throw some big characters in there or we'll get a repeat of BB4. It's going to be hard for them to decide who's going to be interesting without being offensive

Personally my favourite series was BB5. So much fun with just the right amount of bitchyness, heh.

I heard a rumour it will be all girls tonight.

It was all girls who got them in to the last mess, having all females is the last thing they should go for if they want less controversy.

The twins scare me, and they look about 12. I like Shabnam and Laura, they seem fun, and.. I don't remember her name, but the adopted girle from Bombay with the half brother in Skins? She seemed sweet.

I take back everything I said before - what a load of garbage.

All girls? That will never work - girls hate girls! My head was hurting from all the squealing and screaming after about 15 minutes. The majority of them appear to be vacuous and stuck up blonde airheads, and the only one I even remotely liked was the dark haired Welsh girl. If this move was supposed to bolster flagging interest/ratings then I think they've failed on both counts, I won't be watching as I already couldn't give a damn.

Yes, overall, NOT impressed at all.

ETA: I said I'd only watch BB tonight for half an hour and then turn it off. I ended up watching the lot. *headdesk* It's like a drug that's very bad for you but you can't stop taking it! I will also watch tomorrow night to see the poor sod of a guy they put in. Then I'll watch it on Monday because "it's before ER and it will pass the time." and before you know it I'll be as hooked as every other bloody year. Damn it. Damn it all!

There are no characters in there though, no Brian's or Nadia's or Pete's, no one who instantly grabs the attention. That's a bit of a letdown.

Hmmm I dont like the fact there's just one man really. Purely because I know it will induce lots squeeling fits and those REALLY hurt my ears.

I like Laura, not just because I'm welsh, but because she seems genuinley nice.

I can't believe people can give themselves "10/10 attractivness". I think thats amazing, Big Brother needs to widen the doors, so they can get their heads through them.

I just watched the man, Ziggy, going into the house. Nothing majorly interesting, only screaming ETC.

I'm getting more into it now it's been on a few days, but there are still no stand out characters this year. I'm glad Ziggy actually seems like a nice bloke though, and they didn't put in your typical arrogant dude just in there to get laid.

I like Laura, Emily, Chanelle, twins.. I like them all, except Charley (UGH) and Shabnam.

Ziggy is adorable, lol. Emily is so pretty aswell, naturally.

So far its a bit boring, but I've always found that they've started out a bit that way. Hoping they put more guys in soon - Ziggy seems nice so far but more men are needed
