I'm doing some research on TV watching for a college course and in the interest of casting a broad net, I thought I'd post here. I'd really appreciate anyone who has a chance to respond with answers to these questions about TV shows on travel and food. Write as much or as little as you'd like - I'm looking for diversity of opinions and experiences.

I know this is my first post here, but I went over the rules and I don't think this violates any of them. If you don't think shows like "No Reservations" and "Bizarre Foods" qualify as reality TV, please let me know and I can try to move this to the appropriate forum.

What kind of experience is it to watch these shows with other people versus watching them by yourself?

How do you feel this type of program approaches issues of race, gender, ethnicity and religion?
