kherington/twitch - I really love Twitch, even more after this episode. Kherigton came off as a bit high maintenance in this episode, I felt like she was trying too hard to be funny. I loved their facial expressions but sometimes I felt like K was trying too hard. But she did really well. T was of course flawless, IMO. He's certainly my favorite male in the competition. I wasnt a huge fan of the routine or the music. I didnt like the talking/singing the entire time. But I thought they pulled it off pretty well.

courtney/gev - I really like them both, they are cute together and they seem so sincere. I feel bad for Gev because they are totally embarrassing him. The beginning seemed a bit strained. I was not a fan of the dance at all, but it wasnt their fault, it was just a very boring routine and song, imo. The butt grab thing was hot though, but sometimes I felt like C was trying too hard with her facial expressions. But I love G.

chris/comfort - I cant stant these two. Comfort tries to be so cool. And Chris is just annoying. HIs voice bugs me. This might be because I dislike them so much but I WAS NOT digging the dance at all. It was creepy and tehy werent together at all. They bored me with their dancing. I dont think they were strong enough

jessica/will - I like them a little better, but I dont think either one has that much charisma. I liked the dance, I thought Jessica did better, but there is still something missing there for me. I still feel lie she is trying too hard. And she looks frazzled/tired/overwelmed a lot. I feel like her nerves get the best of her. Will is good, yet again, but he's a bit bland.. I think the dance overall was pretty good, but there could have been more pizzazz.

matt/cortni - I dont really like either of them. They certainly have personality, but they just kind of bother me. LOL. Matt is really good, he's just too proper for me. And Cortni is the opposite. Sh's too sloppy sometimes. They ha more nergy in tonights routine an I actually really liked it though. I liked all the technique. There was definatey some interesting movement.

chelsey/thayne - Like ive said before, I really like their personalities and I think they are great in their own styles, but im not sure I really like them together, nor do I really like them in other styles. C's neck was a bit stiff and the song didnt really fit with the dance, IMO but I thought they did a decent job. I was a bit bored and I felt like their steps were too small, they didnt move around as much as I wanted them to. They were just safe, they didnt really attack it. And C's eyes freak me out a bit. LOL.

chelsie/mark - I really like these two. I was iffy about Mark at first but I love his energy and his passion for dance, it makes me happy. These two are definately my favorite couple. There is something about Chelsie that I just love watching. I just cant take my eyes off of her hwen I watch. She is seriously SO good. I was totally into the routine an their energy. And I LOVE LOVE LOVE their chemistry!!! Seriously, their routine almost made me cry because it was sad. And OMG the choreography was insane. My favorite routine this season, by far!!! They definately are the couple to beat, imo.

katee/josh- I am not a fan of Katee, but she is a good dancer, I will give her that. I do really like Joshua though, I think hes a cutie and very humble. I didnt like their routine as much as the judges, but I thought it was good.

Sidenotes:

- I love Adam. I thought he had really constructive critisism and I agreed with everything he said.

The only two routines I really liked tonight were Mark/Chelsie and Gev/Courtney.
This season has been a letdown.

Bear with me; this is gonna be long...

Yeah, I just...so many things weren`t working for me in this episode. I`m really disappointed. Especially after the spoilers I read. I`m gonna talk about each dance and the dancers separately and then I`m going to address problems with the show as a whole.

Twitch/Kherington: Twitch is so cute. His persona is so endearing and I really really like him as a person and as a performer. I thought they performed it okay. Twitch definitely out danced Kherington. She held her own though. But there were parts were she definitely could have given it more. She wasn`t as percussive in the movements as he was. But it was a good enough performance. Hated the costumes and the choreography, but more about that later.

Courtney/Gev: I can`t figure out if I like Courtney`s personality or not. Sometimes she comes off a little entitled and that bugs me but other times I think maybe she`s just a little reserved. I don`t know yet. The dance was okay. The beginning was the best part. They have the most odd chemistry. You can tell he`s really into her and she`s just play acting but it kind of works. However, their transitions were bad. I mean, she looked like she was kind of fumbling at the end of turns and it wasn`t as smooth as a rumba needs to be. Um and they are NO WHERE near Dom/Sabra; that was like a slap in the face. Blah.

Comfort/Chris: I firstly, adore Tyce Diorio; it was from his brilliant mind that the masterpiece 'Why' was choreographed. This piece had a lot of potential to me, and it just fell flat. It`s like they did all the moves and that was it. No emotion, no performance, no aggression, nothing. Just UGH. It could have been SO good and it just wasn`t.

Will/Jessica: Will is so freaking cute. I adore him, loved his gentlemanly ways. He performed his butt off. I definitely appreciated that. Jessica was just ugh to me, she`s another one that just does the movement. When did actually PERFORMING become unnecessary? And she had no persona during the dance, she just smiled. There was no pizzazz or umf or anything connecting the audience to the piece she was doing or even the partner she was doing it with. On the upside she`s REALLY REALLY pretty.

Kortni/Matt: I`m almost positive that what they were doing style wise was jazz, not contemporary. It was really quirky and fun and kind of bizarre but I actually liked it, I didn`t love it but it was cute. And I was happy that we got to finally see how talented Kortni and Matt both are. Because they haven`t really shined as of yet.

Chelsea/Thayne: WTF kinda song was that? That didn`t work at all. They had those fake smiles on their faces like they were trying to remember the steps in their heads but not show it on their faces which, by osmosis makes it show on their faces. Another case of weird transitions and lack of flow. It sucks because I like them, especially Chelsea.

Mark/Chelsie: Hated the song choice. Liked the idea and story behind the dance. Mark really put his all into it and I felt their chemistry and connection. Someone above mentioned Chelsie reminding them of Lacey from last season and I had mentioned that after their Mia Michael`s routine, because my reaction to Chelsie`s performance REALLY reminded me of how moved I was by Lacey. Even though I think she did good tonight, I`m gonna have to retract that sentiment. There were parts of the dance where Mark was hitting it really hard and Chelsie just wasn`t matching him, but then I got confused because she would hit the next part perfectly; it was like she wasn`t being consistent throughout the entire piece and that bugged me. It was a good performance by them as a whole though.

Joshua/Katee: Okay, finally. THIS is a performance. Thank you Katee and Joshua. She came out there and set the stage on fire. Her movement, their synchronicity, everything about that worked. They did what all great dancers are supposed to do and that is PERFORM. Especially Katee, she came out there like she knew she was hot ish and sold it, her mannerisms, her facials; she just SOLD it.

Okay so here are my issues and the bones I need to pick. I for the most part like all the dancers personally, there isn`t anyone who completely turns me off. My problem lies in some of the dancers letting their nerves get the best of them and it shows in their performances. If they aren`t comfortable with their style or whatever. FAKE it. OWN it. Leave it all on the dance floor. Put your everything into it and it will come across better than just smiling and willing your way through a piece. I CANNOT STAND that, and I felt like I saw a lot of that tonight.

Secondly, are the judges on crack? No really. There were WAY too many positive remarks on merely mediocre dances. I wanted to slap Nigel and Mary into next week. Adam made some valid points but I wish Mia had been judging because she would have told it like it clearly is; not some biased ploy about propping some dancers and dissing others.

Thirdly, I really dislike Nigel pimping Napoleon and Tabitha. They need to get some other hip hop choreographers quick because I`m not feeling the watered down, fluid hip hop they`re giving the dancers. I mean, it`s fine and dandy for what it is but I need some diversity in the hip hop that they showcase. So if I get only Napoleon and Tabitha; I`m going to be thoroughly upset.

Fourth, WTH is up with these song choices? It probably has to do with the choreographers but some of the songs just aren`t matching the pieces.

As a whole, this episode was so ridiculously all over the place. I wasn`t feeling it at all. Next week better be SO much better.

I agree with your post except for the last two pairs.

I thought that Chelsie was amazing. I never liked Lacey. And I adore Mark. I loved the dance too. It made me teary.

And Katee/Josh were good to me, they are definately great performers, but I dont think this dance was their best.

I didn’t think any of the dances last night were terrible…but some were obviously better than others.

My faves of the night were Katee/Joshua & Chelsea/Mark. Their routines seemed to be a cut above the rest. I also give kudos to Will for his half of the Disco routine. He looked liked he was really into it.

I think the new contemporary choreographer (Sonya?) brings a unique style to the show. But they really blew that routine with those terrible costumes. I know...it's not the dancers' fault, but I did find the costumes distracting.

Terrible music help put the kibosh on 2 already struggling couples. Comfort & Chris have enough skill & personality problems, but I’m sure Marilyn Manson didn’t help their cause. With that kind of music I expected to see them running around with chainsaws. The other poor choice was Phil Collins for the Quickstep. That music combo just looked wrong, wrong, wrong. And their psycho grins might have worked better with Marilyn Manson perhaps?

That's why I liked Adam's comment about not letting the audience know you are uncomfortable with a style. You gotta SELL the dance. Some of the dancers did that last night....others not so much.

I can't stand Jessica. I haven't liked her since week one and I couldn't understand why the judges loved her so much in that tango. I think that she deserves to go. Then Comfort.

I think Chris is the weakest guy. He should've left last week instead of Marquis.

My favourite by far is Chelsie/Mark. I thought they were great. Their synchro was really good and they emoted well. I find that Mark especially really gets into the character of the dance. Last week he was great.

I could go through all the dances but there wouldn't really be a point because it would go like this - hated everything except the last 2 numbers. And even though, while I thought were good, I'm not going to be pulling them up on YT to watch over and over again. Joshua & Katee were definitely the best of the night, I really enjoyed their performance. Mark & Chelsie were good as well but I don't think they deserved the Standing O and the insane amount of praise from the judges. And they are definitely not the couple to beat.

I can't remember if I said this here or not but ITA - they need to stop saying that Gev is like Dom RIGHT NOW. Like, it just has to stop. It's embarrassing and insulting for Dom. I felt bad for him last night when they were comparing the two. Stop trying to push Gev & Court as Dom & Sabra because it's. not. working.

Putting everything aside my biggest problem which this season isn't with the dancers. While I don't think any of them are anything special and with the exception of a few of them their personalities fall flat, that's not my biggest problem. My problem is with the judges and the choreographers.

-The judges are praising everything. EVERYTHING. And it needs to stop right now. They seem to have gotten softer through the years. If this was 2 years ago and these dances were on S2 they would have gotten killed. I need to the fair judging back, it's ruining the show for me. There is no point in watching if even the bad dances are going to get a good critique. Also, I need to stop seeing judges bashed for giving a fair critique (i.e. Mia last week with Kherington) - that's what they are there for.

-I'm not really feeling the choreography at all this season with the exception of 'No Air' from week 1. I feel like the choreographers are trying to turn their pieces into something too avant garde and it's not working. They need to all go back to the basics and create good solid routines that we can enjoy and stop trying to be Wade, Mia, & Shane. SPEAKING OF THOSE THREE - I need them all back next week, kthxbye.

Every week, Nigel says how HAPPY he is to have Napoleon and Tabitha. I like them, but I don't like their rountines. Wade, Shane and Dave Scott need to come back.

Did you notice that dig towards ABDC? I think Nigel alienates all of the choreographers so they don't want to come back.

I think that a lot of people love Mark/Chelsea. And I can see why you might like them individually as dancers, but watching it on youtube (cause my stupid recorder didn't do what it was supposed to) I have to say they are amazing dancers individually, but not terribly connected while dancing. They had a lot of difficulty with the sychronicity. Aside from the bias of loving the couple and the dancers...C'MON! Their turns were off not together at all.

And I felt like she was doing those isolations in her own little world, I didn't feel like HE was the one manipulating them. I know it's hard to do. I mean they have so little time to train and practise, but everyone's raving about it and I am sooo nitpicky about things, I honestly thought it took away from the dance.

And as much as Chelsea emoted, sometimes I just wanted her to make it a little more subtle. The problem is it's all one level with her. Either highly emotional or just kind of blank.

I'm totally going to get roasted for this

As for Katee and Joshua. I really thought they were hot. Individually and together. There were some nitpicky things about their routine I didn't like. I think it's definitely partial to the almost same height thing. He has no height on her. There isn't a difference and it seemed to make her have to bend over almost, slouch for him to twirl her. I really think that she also should have had her shoulders back a little more when she did that shimmy kind of move when she bent over. Josh was great, though I would have liked to see his chest out a little more, but that's a minute detail. He definitely has the hips and swizzle in them to pull off ballroom.

And one last thing, at first I couldn't pinpoint it, but then I watched it over again and realized what was kind of nagging at me in their dance. Their performance was superb! The best of the night in my opinion

But what was nagging at me was the fact that there wasn't as much snap in their movements. There wasn't the kind of snap you expect when you go into multiple turns and when the guy is turning you, he needs to seem like he's turning you, not you're turning yourself. So that is the biggest thing that bugged me. It wasn't a huge deal as I thoroughly enjoyed their performance. But if they are going to work on anything in ballroom/latin dances, that would definitely be it. They've got the fluidity down, they just need the snap!

I luuuurve them though!

I think one of the problems is the pairing. With a few exceptions I think the partnering choices were really off this year. I think that once everyone starts getting all mixed in, it will be alot more clear who is better and who just isn't capable.
