NBC delays 'Apprentice' premiere
Nellie Andreeva
Hollywood Reporter
Dec. 21, 2007 12:00 AM

NBC is taking the premiere of "Celebrity Apprentice" out of the cross-hairs of the last original episode of ABC's "Grey's Anatomy"... or so it seems.

NBC on Wednesday said that it will push the launch of "Apprentice" from Jan. 3 to Jan. 10, expanding "Deal or No Deal" to two hours on Thursday, Jan. 3.

The move follows ABC's midseason schedule announcement Friday that included the last original episode of "Grey's" airing Jan. 3, leading into the premiere of the new drama "Cashmere Mafia."

But then later in the day Wednesday, ABC said that it would move the premiere of "Cashmere" from Jan. 3 to Jan. 6 where it will air after the last original episode of "Desperate Housewives."

And there is speculation that ABC is also mulling moving the original "Grey's" from Jan. 3, the night of the Iowa caucus, possibly to Jan. 10 where it may again go against the premiere of "Apprentice."

Even without a first-run "Grey's," "Apprentice" is facing an uphill battle in the Thursday 9 p.m. slot where ABC is launching the abbreviated new season of "Lost" Jan. 31.

On Jan. 6, "Cashmere" will replace an original "Brothers & Sisters," which will now air Jan. 15.

Apparently slutaciousness runs in the family.

VH1’s breakout reality black troll star New York, is sharing her sloppy seconds with her own mother, Sister Patterson.

As reported by The Newbistar Blog, Sister Patterson star of Planet of the Apes has been seeing New York’s ex, Joshua Gallander a.k.a. Whiteboy from Season 1 of I Love New York, behind closed doors.

Whiteboy, who came in fourth place on the show, was spotted by many sources getting into a limo together with the demon mother during the wee hours of the morning. The two even shared a bedroom together at the Palms Hotel!

I always knew Whiteboy was gay!! I’m sure Sister Patterson turned that Whiteboy into a man!!

Networks turn to reality shows to fill prime-time void left by the writers strike

Friday, Dec 28, 2007 - 12:07 AM

By DOUGLAS DURDEN
TIMES-DISPATCH STAFF WRITER

Ten.

That's how many new or returning reality series will move into prime time in the coming weeks. And that's only on network TV.

Blame it -- partly -- on the writers guild strike that started in November, crippling the rest of the TV season in terms of scripted shows, meaning the dramas and comedies we love.

Apparently, you can't kill "Big Brother" or "The Biggest Loser."

Reality TV has been a network fave ever since it was discovered that reality shows are cheaper to make than scripted shows, they're strike-proof (writers for reality TV aren't covered by the writers guild) and viewers love them.

Or at least they love reality shows with winning concepts such as "American Idol" and "Dancing With the Stars."

With plenty of hours to fill and few, if any, new episodes of scripted shows, the networks are ripping up their best-laid plans from fall. New plans include the first winter season of CBS' "Big Brother," starting in February.

NBC has been particularly busy lining up emergency programming. In February, it's turning "quarterlife," the Marshall Herskovitz and Edward Zwick Internet experiment, into a short-term hourlong series.

In March, the USA Network's "Monk" and "Psych" will be "repurposed" -- network-speak for "repeated" -- on NBC.

Big Brother cancelled after three die in crash

From correspondents in Belgrade

December 31, 2007 03:24pm
Article from: Agence France-Presse

THE Serbian version of reality show Big Brother has been cut short after three former housemates died in a car crash.

"Following the tragic death of former Big Brother housemates Stevan Zecevic, Elmir Kuduzovic and Zorica Lazic, B92 and the production company Emotion decided to bring (the series) to an end," the producers said.

The three were killed in a car accident near Belgrade.

The remaining seven housemates were taken out of the house and told the news away from the cameras.

The show was due to finish on January 5, when the three were supposed to come back to the house along with other former housemates on New Year's Eve.

It is reportedly the first time ever that the Big Brother reality show has been cancelled.

It was the second season of the reality show to be broadcast in Serbia and picked up in Bosnia and Montenegro.

Reality check: New year brings new reality

Kara A. Medalis
Reality Check

Published January 4 2008

The new year brings a bunch of new reality shows to the airwaves, thanks in part to the Hollywood writers' strike. Here's part two of a special Reality Check highlighting what's coming up in 2008.

"Life of Ryan," Jan. 8, 10 p.m., MTV.

Follow the life of 17-year-old pro skateboarder, Ryan Sheckler. In season two, Ryan's friends return to school as he strives to win the Action Sports Dew Tour. At the same time, career-driven Ryan longs for a "normal" teenage life, and hopes to meet the girl of his dreams. Miss season one and want to catch up? Go to MTV.com.Ê

"Rob & Big," Jan. 8, 10:30 p.m., MTV.

MTV's odd couple - skateboarder Rob Dyrdek and best friend/bodyguard Christopher "Big Black" Boykin - return for season three of this hysterical reality series. Rob & Big look like they're up to their usual crazy antics in the new season, as they enter Mini-Horse in a competitive horse show, and throw a birthday bash for lovable Meaty the bulldog. Watch the silly season three trailer at MTV.com. This is the one season premiere I eagerly await! "Rob & Big" never fails to make me laugh.Ê

"Make Me a Supermodel," Jan. 10, 10 p.m., Bravo.

In this take-off of the British series, Bravo looks for the next great supermodel. Twenty-four hopefuls will quickly be whittled down to 14, and the contestants will move into a New York City loft for 12 weeks. Viewers will pick the winner, who will receives $100,000 and a New York Model Management contract. Niki Taylor and Tyson Beckford host. I predict plenty of drama and romance on this show full of beautiful people.

"Scott Baio is 46... and Pregnant," Jan. 13, 10 p.m., VH1.

Another year older and wiser? Chachi recently married his longtime, pregnant girlfriend, Renee Sloan. Season one, which followed Scott as he endured two-month celibacy boot camp in an attempt to settle down, was endearing. I'm sure season two will be just as charming as Chachi prepares (I bet awkwardly) for fatherhood.Ê

"Rock of Love 2," Jan. 13, VH1.

It's round two of Poison rocker Bret Michaels' quest for true love. Bring on the strippers looking for their 15 minutes of fame! So just who will rock Bret's world? Twenty new ladies will compete to win his heart. I hope last season's runner-up, Las Vegas stripper, Heather, makes a surprise appearance, a la New York in "Flavor of Love 2." I can't wait for more drunken, hair-pulling catfights.

"American Idol," Jan. 15, 8 p.m., Fox.

Fox's blockbuster hit show returns for its seventh season with a two-night, four-hour event Jan. 15 and 16. The audition round shows never fail to amuse. Tune in to see the talented - and the deliciously awful - auditioners from San Diego; Dallas; Omaha; Atlanta; Charleston, S.C.; Miami and Philadelphia.

"The Millionaire Matchmaker," Jan. 22, 11 p.m., Bravo.

Patti Stanger, who runs an L.A. matchmaking service for the rich, tries to help the wealthy find the mates of their dreams on this new series. According to Bravotv.com: "In each episode, two wealthy men are set up on dates with potentially compatible women, who are hand-picked by Stanger based upon their beauty and intelligence." Sounds like "Real Housewives of Orange County," only steamier!

"Survivor: Micronesia - Fans vs. Favorites," Feb. 7, 8 p.m. CBS.

Yes, it's already time to outwit, outplay and outlast, as season 16 of the CBS show premieres next month. Die-hard fans will compete against "Survivor" alums. The alumni cast hasn't been announced yet; stay tuned to Reality Check and CBS.com for updates.

"Big Brother 9," Feb. 12, 9 p.m., CBS.

And I thought I'd have to wait for summer for one of my favorite reality shows. ... The special winter edition of the show will be hosted by Julie Chen.

No word on a cast yet, but stay tuned to Reality Check and CBS.com for updates. The show will air hourlong episodes Tuesdays at 9 p.m., and Wednesdays and Sundays at 8 p.m.
