Pussycat Dolls Present: The Search For the Next Doll (starts Tues, March 6 on The CW)

The CW's new music/reality series, "Pussycat Dolls Present: The Search for The Next Doll," is a behind-the-scenes look at the process of selecting a beautiful and talented singer/dancer who has what it takes to join one of the world's most successful performing and recording acts. Out of the thousands of gifted hopefuls who audition, only one young woman will make it through the challenges and undergo a total transformation to win her place in the spotlight as the newest member of the Pussycat Dolls.

Judges on the series include the group's founder and choreographer, Robin Antin, along with Ron Fair, Chairman of Geffen Records, and Grammy Award-winning performing artist Lil' Kim. As they guide the young contestants through auditions and challenges, the judges' personal styles sometimes clash, but their brutally honest critiques are intended to bring out the best in each performer. The Pussycat Dolls' lead singer and spokesperson, Nicole Scherzinger, is an inspiring role model to the participants. New dance routines in the Dolls' unmistakable style are created by Antin and co-choreographer Mikey Minden, who teach the girls one demanding number after another. In addition, Antin is on hand to take the participants through each challenge and demonstrate what it takes to become a Pussycat Doll. Antin's brother, hairstylist Jonathan Antin of "Blowout" fame, is on board for sexy hairstyle makeovers. Another important member of the team is singer/songwriter Mark McGrath, who serves as the show's host.

After a nationwide audition process, the judges narrowed the dancers down to the final diverse group of nine young women, who move into a loft in Los Angeles' fashion district during the competition. Each episode has a specific theme - confidence, creativity and style are just a few of the themes addressed. Challenges include ballet dancing in toe shoes, designing an original Pussycat Doll-style outfit and learning a dance routine with male partners. In addition to Nicole, other members of the Pussycat Dolls provide advice and empower the girls to give their all during each challenge. Along the way, there are plenty of surprises, including celebrity guests and unexpected trips.

Some of the gorgeous and gifted participants are great singers, some are great dancers, some have a creative style all their own, but the winner of the competition will be the one who combines all these talents to unleash her inner Pussycat Doll.

In the early 1990s, Antin was already enjoying a successful career as a choreographer on music videos for bands such as Smash Mouth, The Offspring and No Doubt. Looking for a new creative outlet, she invited a few of her dancer friends over to play around with new routines and edgy costumes in the tiny dance studio she had set up in the Los Angeles garage of her roommate, actress Christina Applegate. Antin was inspired by the style of famed choreographer Bob Fosse ("Sweet Charity," "Cabaret"), but she set her routines to music that ran the gamut from Led Zeppelin to punk rock to Bjork. When Applegate suggested the group perform at the Sunset Strip's renowned Viper Room, The Pussycat Dolls were born.

The Dolls were soon attracting huge crowds and celebrity guest performers, including Applegate, Gwen Stefani, Charlize Theron, Brittany Murphy, Paris Hilton and Pamela Anderson. When Antin joined forces with Jimmy Iovine, Chairman of Interscope Geffen A&M Records, and Ron Fair, Chairman of Geffen Records, The Dolls quickly jumped to another level, appearing in music videos and the film "Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle." Their debut album "PCD" has sold over five million copies worldwide and spawned five hit singles. When Antin decided to add a new member to the group, the idea of filming the auditions and the transformation from dancer to Doll just came naturally.

Anyone planning on watching this? I'm still undecided but I might tune into the first episode to see what it's like.

I'm undecided too but I'll probably regret it if I don't and everybody else is talking about it. I think it's repeated several times during the week, at least the first week.

Yah, I'm not even sure why I might want to watch this since I don't even like the Pussycat Dolls. I guess I'm just a sucker for reality shows.

I don't like them either. In fact, I've only heard one of their songs. But I'm going to watch it anyway.

Haha, yah, I've only heard Doncha and now after watching the episode tonight, I realize I've heard Hot Stuff too.

What did everyone think? It wasn't terribly exciting but it wasn't half bad either. I can't believe all those girls got so sick. If I them, I would've killed the girl who started it all, Anjelia or whatever her name was. Did they really have to put in all those shots of girls vomiting? Ew.

I thought Sandra did a better job than Chelsea and would've preferred her get the last spot. Other than that, I don't have an opinion one way or another on the rest of the girls who made it.

Stickwitu is the one I've heard, and now I find out that I've heard Don't Cha.

I wasn't really paying attention to most of it. I'll probably watch when I'm home but I won't record it. I'm working next Tuesday night so I'll miss it next week.

I couldn't believe so many of them got sick either.

Me too. She was the most beautiful out of the bunch, too.

The show, however, was horrible. I had to make myself sit through to the bitter end. I don't even know why.

but i love watcihng people that can dance.. so i had to give it a chance. i thought the first episode was pretty good.

my favorites are the two melissas.

I found out last night that Sandra is dating Jared Padalecki. Random but they make a cute couple.

I don't get the whole PCD thing either. Why have so many girls if there's only one who really sings? I don't know about anyone else, but the lead singer girl is the only one I recognize out of the bunch. I haven't a clue what the others look like.

I haven't watched this show yet, I forgot. The girl Chelsea looks really familiar, I wonder if she's been on any reality show? And I definately remember Melissa S. from Making The Band 3, she's got a lot of talent.

OH yes...It's every girls dream to walk around in skimpy clothing.

Every time when I even here a song by the PCD all I hear is one person. What's the deal?
