My Super Sweet 16

I just watched the premiere episode. It was kind of boring. And I thought that the stories would be told throughout the series, but apparently they're showing one party a week.

I thought Jacqueline was a little bit more sincere and seemed sweeter than Lauren. It was nice that she thanked everyone at the end. (And Lauren has my dream car at 16. That was a Mercedes SL 500 wasn't it? *sigh* One day after I work hard enough I will have one...haha) Those girls parents seemed to have a lot of money. Where did they live? I heard them mention having New Found Glory as the band. I would have died if I had NFG play at any party I've ever had. They're great. Anyway, I did LOVE Jacqueline's style. Very cute. And I liked her hair style for the party a lot better than Lauren's.

Personally, I didn't have a huge sweet 16 party. A couple of my friends did have huge parties that the held at banquet halls and hotels. My parents suprised me with a limo to take me and 10 of my friends into NYC for dinner. It was nice.

I taped it and I'm going to watch before I go to bed, which means as soon as I get done here. From your descriptions, I think this show is going to depress me. No one I knew had a big fancy 16th birthday party. People who did have parties just had regular parties in their homes.

I liked Jacqueline a lot more than Lauren. These girls are very wealthy. Mercedes for your first car, $100K for a party. Damn.

I thought it was nice that Jacqueline was taking a morning run, being absolutely excited about the party and was a sweetie about the party. Then Bitchy McBitchface (ew, shaving on the kitchen sink?) whining that she wants to go back to bed and just complaining the rest of the time.

Then, at the end, I thought it was very nice of Jacqueline to personally come up to the staff/security and thank them while Lauren complained about her feet hurting. Girl, you didnt even get punched! The blonde seemed much more spoiled (ordering her dad to find her shoes).

That said, I was very disappointed at their choice of dresses. Lauren had the biggest bitchface while they were trying on clothes. You close off a part of Saks to pick two dresses that you could have bought for less than 50 dollars at some random no-name store at your local mall. Between the Carolina Herrera gown (a tad too much, yeah), Pucci, Marc Jacobs, and the Catherine Malandrinos in that store, I'm sure they couldve found something nicer to wear.

Great, MTV just managed to get me suckered into another one of their crapfests.

I could not believe the audacity that Lauren had to sit there at the end and say, "It was pretty much like I expected it to be. It wasn't anything special."

I wanted to smack her. She got the party of her dreams and it wasn't anything special. She obviously appreciates very little in her life. Which makes her a nasty b-word of a person.

Yeah, that was bad but it was probably one of those times when you build it up so much in your mind that no matter what happens, it's not going to be as great as you thought it would be.

My wedding didn't even come close to $100K. Not even $10K.

Jacqueline did seem nicer and more fun but I still laughed at her when she looked upset over Lauren picking a similar dress in the store. It was nice of her to thank security. Now we know why everyone likes her better than Lauren.

Did those little girls really think they were going to get into the party? The really young ones outside?

Did anyone catch the name of the band? It wasn't New Found Glory. They couldn't get NFG or any of the other bands they read off their list. Does Christina Aguilera even do private parties? If she does, they're probably not of the $100K budget variety. That's a lot of money to me but if you're looking for a big name star I think you're going to have to go a little higher.

I'm going to have to watch next week to see the girl cry.

It was Unwritten Law. They sing the song "Seeing Red" which was on the radio for quite sometime.

I seriously laughed when they thought they were going to get Christina or Beyonce. I turned to my boyfriend and said, "Those girls are retarded! The bands they want are way to big to be playing at a frickin birthday party!"

I thought this show was "ok", i mean it wasn't exciting really, they are kinda like copying L aguna Beach in away, but in guess cuz they r both on mtv but still.....
That Lauren girls was a bitch and doent appreciate anything she has.... ughhhh i hate people like that..... but those girls must be like REALLY REALLY wealthy, cuz they had a section of Saks slosed off for them, thats like whoa! but all in all it was ok, its sorta fun to see people turning 16 , and get ideas for my sweet 16 party which is in like a year & a half ..... i probably will keep watching

Jacque had a better attitude than last week's girls, even Jackie, but she seemed a bit desperate. I felt bad for her when she was talking about inviting people who normally wouldn't even talk to her because she wanted to be popular.

The guy she liked and though was so cute? Was so not.

Her mom's obsession with beads was weird. She shouldn't have ordered them knowing how Jacque felt. Beads ARE kind of tacky. They're good for Mardi Gras but I think Jacque had different ideas for her party.

The dress was pretty.

It must be hard for Jacque being academic and more serious and having a party mom. Still, Jacque seemed to know how to have fun and they seemed to get along pretty well so she can't be too bad.

2005 Ford Mustang: nice.

Next week's girl looks as bad or maybe even worse than Lauren.

I think Super Sweet 16 is supposed to be the antithesis to shows like Laguna Beach.

Meaning, MTV is finally showing the real side to some of these rich brats and while it is not pleasant, it is a more common reality whether anyone wants to admit it or not.

Granted, it can be seen as promoting a cliche as not every rich kid is a spoiled snob, but I think that is the point of the show in some respects.

It's not meant to be an idealized version of privillaged life... Like Laguna Beach is. It's supposed to be the more darker, more grittier "ugly" side to it and that is why I am sure MTV decided to do this along side Laguana Beach and especially AFTER they saw how well LB did.

Watching this show from a grownup perspective (literally) all I can say is I hope some of these girls learn the value of what they have and how to treat others as they mature, or eventually they are going to run into a situation where they will be FORCED to do that and usually, this kind of learning isn't the most pleasant experience... But may actually benefit them in the long run. Hmm...

good point.... but i seriously hate how they act like all girls with big houses and rich parents act like total snobs, i mean i know from knowing people and growing up the way i did, they don't. The girl tuesday night looks like a major biatch! this shall be annoying....

Man, I thought I had a great party for my 16th until I started watching these girls But Lauren and Jacqueline are from La Jolla, so I guess that's to be expected. I agree that Jackie was way sweeter and that Lauren is a spoiled brat. Even though they had the same party and the same everything, Jackie just didn't seem spoiled to me and was genuinely excited about everything. I'm actually liking this show, even though I just tuned in to make fun of it

I haven't seen the second episode yet, but I did get a chance to see the first one and I really liked the brunette. i thinks he was really less stuck up than her friend. At one point I was trying to wonder how they were friends.

Ava reminded me of Miam Bialik (Blossom) when she was younger

haha....I know Ava, she is one of cousins best friends. My cousin was at her sweet 16, lol. It was funny to watch because my family is so similar to hers, I got a dress from the same place she got hers custom made.
