The Mole (Australia)

Yay for having The Mole back.

Boo for them replacing Grant Bowler with Tom Williams.

Aussie Mole in NZ

Tom "the chest" Williams will front the fifth series of The Mole. Williams, 34, replaces Grant Bowler as host of the Channel 7 reality series, which will be shot in Nw Zealand. As if the challenges weren't enough - bungy jumping from choppers, being plunged into underground caves and lying chained next to thermal geysers - the participants have to fly back to Sydney each week for a live elimination show. The Mole starts next month

Don't get me wrong, I like Tom Williams on The Great Outdoors, but I suspect he will suck as host of The Mole. Grant Bowler was the perfect host, so I dunno why they wouldn't bring him back again.

I also don't get the point of them filming the show in NZ, but flying everyone back to Sydney for every elimination. Seriously, what's the point of that?

Anyway, still looking forward to having the show back.

Cannot believe that they're replacing Grant Bowler though, he was the best host for that show he jsut did it well.

Any ideas what stage their up to in production or anything?

Well if the eliminations are gonna be shown live, then they can't have started filming the show yet. I think I read somewhere that they're gonna start filming near the beginning of August.

It hasn't been on for ages. Don't remember when the last season was, at least a year ago if not longer. They said they weren't gonna make it anymore because it never rated that well, so it's actually kinda surprising that they changed their minds and are bringing it back afterall.

But the new guy they're gonna have hosting it just isn't cut out for hosting a show like The Mole. His regular gig is a reporter on a travel show. He's the young guy who they send to do stories on extreme sports and stuff. He's a cool guy, and fun to watch, but he just doesn't have that dark and sinister side that you need to be a successful Mole host IMO. The original host we had was perfect, so I wish they had have just stuck with him.

Well they shot the last season in New Caledonia, so it's not really that weird for them to film the show in another country. But I still don't get why they're gonna fly back to Sydney for every elimination. That just seems pointless IMO.

What a waste of money - how weird :S

They're playing the very first series on CHannel 7 in the mornins at the moment, I managed to watch the very first ep of it today. I can remeber Grant Bowler being a much better host that i actually was. So either he got better as the show progressed, o he's gotten good after being on Border Security. Reality shows have sure come a long way since the first season of the mole as well! Having said that though, i can't see Tom Williams pulling the sly sneeky host thing off.

I've read that the first ep will be on the 25th at 7:30.

Ch7 are already running a promo: right click save as.

One of the contestants looks like a clone of Brian McFadden.

The whole thing with promoting it like it's The Amazing Race is rather tryhard. Makes me scared that they've revamped the show so much that it won't resemble the original Mole. Guess we'll just hafta wait and see.

Hm, I really liked the first series of the Mole, I think the second was good too.. but after that I lost interest. So I'm not sure if I'll be watching

I saw that the first series was replaying weekday mornings, but I kept forgetting last week, and I only got to see the first half today. Anybody watching it?
