Kid Nation (CBS, September 19th)

Kid Nation on CBS

40 Kids have 40 days to build a brave new world without adults to help or hinder their efforts. Can they do it? These Kids, ages 8-15, will turn a ghost town into their new home. They will cook their own meals, clean their own outhouses, haul their own water and even run their own businesses including the old town saloon (root beer only). Through it all, they'll cope with regular childhood emotions and situations: homesickness, peer pressure and the urge to break every rule they've ever known.

Will they stick it out? In the end, will these Kids prove to everyone, including their parents, they have the vision to build a better world than the pioneers who came before them? And just as importantly, will they come together as a cohesive unit, or will they abandon all responsibility and succumb to the childhood temptations that lead to round-the-clock chaos? Don't miss this intriguing series.

....

Anybody planning on watching? I think I'll tune into it

I haven't heard about the controversy yet, but I can see the point. What would happen if a child got severely injured or sick. They would have to interfere and get proper medical care.

This looks interesting. I've heard of the controversies but I haven't actually paid any attention to them.

I might tune in to the first epi to see if it is good or not. I saw the preview on tv, but didn't think it looked that good.

My goodness I know. there is NOTHING on Wednesdays right now. I'm dying for the fall lineup to get underway.

Bumping since it's on tonight!

I watched the CBS Fall Preview special a few days ago and it made me even more excited for this show. I hope it doesn't disappoint and/or CBS doesn't cancel it early.

Yes, they better not cancel it early.

but I don't think it will. There's been a lot of hype about it.

I guess I was expecting too much from a CBS reality show . I really would've liked to see what the kids would have done if they'd had to figure out who would be the leader and how they'd structure things, and does every CBS show have to have some sort of a "physical challenge" (the thing with the pumps)? I'll probably keep watching though. The kids seem pretty smart, interesting. I really like the kids, but I don't like the producers.

Yah, I would've liked to see the kids themselves pick the council members. Maybe we'll get to see that later on if the council gets overthrown.

I didn't think Sophia was going to get the gold star after she started complaining again at the meeting. The girl works hard but she works just as hard at complaining, oy.

Overall, I like this show. Sad to see little Jimmy go home so early.

I didn't get to watch because I was at a hockey game. Hopefully I can catch the next episode.

I'm starting to wonder if they can kick someone off the council, cause you'd think if they could, Taylor wouldn't be in charge of yellow anymore. I did like that they let they kids choose whether they were going to kill the chickens or not, and I loved when that one kid stood up and pretty much called about half of them hypocrites for not wanting to cause it's mean. I was thinking the same thing. And the girl that was crying over the whole thing-- why'd she watch when they killed it? That wasn't entirely logical to me, but she is like eight, so whatever. So do you think she ate the soup? I have a feeling they did have a few vegetarians, so I hope they got something else to eat.
