Extreme Makover Home Edition Appreciation Thread

I don't know why, but I liked this show after I started watching. I always wind up crying at the end though.

I love this show, even though I cry and cry at the end of every episode. It's really great to see good stuff happening for people who need it so much.

I loved tonight's episode! I don't live too far from Oak Park. I think I choked up through most of it. That older boy is one great kid. He's only 14!? I didn't catch that. I thought he was ready to leave for college soon. Wow!

I'm so happy that you started a thread for this show!! It is the most amazing thing on TV IMO. I always cry at the end. The house today was just perfect they do an amazing job finding these families who are truly in need. I just love the way the builders and designers really think of the family and really care about their lives.

I love this show, the designers are brilliant.

Ty sometimes gets on my nerves though.

Wanted to get this thread bumped up. I'll write more details later but the crew came locally for the eppy that will air on July 10th, the Nick Family house in Alma arkansas. I'll be back with details on my visit to the set and my pics soon.

Extreme Makeover Home Edition came near my hometown this week! The team is renovating Colleen Nick's house, the founder of the Morgan Nick Foundation for Missing children, and mother of Morgan Nick, a 6 year old girl who was kidnapped from a local ball park in 1995. The mother has worked diligently during the past 10 years to bring awareness to missing children, without ever having had closure for her own daughter. And apparantly she was nominated and gladly accepted as an extreme home make-over for herself and her two remaining children. This eppy will air on Sunday July 10th as a two hour special including John Walsh for missing children, etc.

So .... Sis (Yellow Mustgan Girl) and I went over yesterday and hung out for a while, took pictures, tried to mingle with the stars but to no avail. But I did want to share the pictures I took. The only stars we got to see were Paige and Mike, and I only got a picture of Paige, and we didn't get to see either up close. But we did kind of visit with a producer/director Eric. And got a pic of him, he's the close up in the Alma PD cap.

I'm just going to post all the pics together. Most are random, of the house in progress, of the volunteer workers, and of stuff being moved in. You can see paige, a blonde in shorts amd a pink belt, carrying a couch in.

And then Sis got a pic of me on the guard rail, and we had our picture made by the little entry sign.

I'm another person with an Extreme Makeover personal experience! They were recently in Kansas City, redoing a house for the Johnson family. The father is a firefighter who is a single dad of 5 children, 2 of whom he adopted so taht they wouldn't have to be submitted to the foster service program and, most likely, be seperated. It was so amazing to see blocks and blocks of people lined up to welcome them home! I was so proud to be there, to be a part of that! Ah, I lost it when the family came home, and they were all running around, jumping, falling! It was great!

I have some pictures here if anyone would like to see. The nicest of the cast was by far Ed, he came out and took pictures, signed autographs with every single person, literally. Michael also came out a lot, and he worked the crowd a lot. The girls were doing a lot of work inside the house, so each time I went up there they were working. Ty was also nice, he had so much work to do, but every now and then he would sign autographs, rushing as fast as he cuold with his producers yelling at him, telling him he needed to stop and go back into the house. But, he tried his best to get everyone!

I adore this show! It's one of the few I consistently cry while watching!

Oooooooo - guess what - remember back a while ago I was rattling off somewhere about my Extreme Makeover Home Edition experience? Well it's airing on ABC tonight!

Sunday, August 14 at 7/6c
"Nick Family"
In two back-to-back episodes, a single mother who lived through a parent's worst nightmare when her oldest daughter was abducted is the latest recipient to be astonished by the door knock of the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition design team and contractors.

I watched that tonight and this was me during the episode:

I don't think there is an episode that I don't cry from watching.

I didn't like this show at first. But it grew on me because its great to finally see a reality show that helps people, instead of trying to humiliate people.

Ty annoys me, but I love this show. My favorite episode was the one about the two deaf parents, their autistic younger son, and their older son. The older son had such a huge responsibility, as his parents' interpreter and his little brother's caretaker. When he was presented with a college scholarship, I lost it.

But I love Ed. Yummy.
