Design Star 2

HGTV Design Star 2007 - Reality Competition and Design Makeover Show

This show is on HGTV. They had a casting special last Sunday and the first real episode is coming up this weekend. I didn't watch season one but I really liked the casting special.

I watched season one and I adorked David something awful, I think he has his own show now on HGTV. I'll probably watch this one too. When, if they said, is it going to be on?

Sunday nights.

David - was he the winner from season one? If so, he was a judge/cast-picker in the casting special standing in for the real judge who couldn't make it.

Yes, the 29th, and if you check the TV listing sites you can probably catch a rerun of the casting show that aired last Sunday.

Anyone watching this? I'm liking it so far but I miss having a cute guy to look at (like David last season). I'm looking forward to the individual challenges so we can better see what everyone's styles are.

I'm watching it. I like it a lot. The first show was better than the second, I only half paid attention to that one. I don't even remember who went home the second week. The first week it was Lisa. I wanted to like her but I just didn't like her design, even though I disagreed with the judges on functionality. It's an entrance, it's not supposed to be functional for anything but that.

The second week, they sent home two people: Neeraja and Hippy!Josh. Hippy!Josh was my favourite after the casting special but he never really amounted to much.

I think two people are being eliminated this upcoming episode too which I don't really like. I'd prefer if they just did one person a week.

Sparkle!Josh is my favorite right now. Him and Todd, the skateboarding guy. Oh and Kim. I just like her for some reason.

Oh, now I remember. I was glad Neeraja got sent home because this was the second time her project looked unfinished. She did a bad paint job on the walls in the bar area in the first challenge.

Yah, I wasn't sad to see Neeraja go at all.

I don't have a favourite right now but I do like Kim. From the casting special, I'm really not a fan of Sparkle!Josh's style but I guess we'll see it better this episode.

I completely agree with Adriana and Scott getting eliminated. Adriana's room wasn't bad but everyone else's were far superior. Scott's was just ... ew. It was way too crowded and did not look cohesive at all. Sparkle!Josh's was also pretty bad.

Todd's design was really interesting but I'm very interested to see what he does when the room also has to be functional.

I think my favourites were Christina's and Robb's (as much as it pains me to say that because I really don't like him).

And wow, they're doing yet another double elimination? I know they had at least one of them last season but I don't remember there being this many. Man, this season is going to be short!

And there is going to be another double elim next week. They are really kicking out the designers quickly. I liked Sparkle!Josh but I wish he'd gone home instead of Adriana, I just really liked her and thought she had alot more to say as a designer than we ever really got to see.

I really loved the paint job on Todd's room. I think that part of it would be awesome to do for a bedroom, tranquil. No cotton balls, though.

I liked the paint job in Todd's room too. I didn't think I would - I didn't think I would like any of it to be honest. But it turned out nicely except it would definitely not be functional at all.

Lavender, red, black and white? Seriously? Worst colour scheme ever. Ew, ew, ew. The whole reception was so incredibly tacky what with the spinning dice and all.

Christina did not listen to what both the bride and groom wanted at all so she deserved to go home. This challenge was really hard to judge - I mean, how could you be sure who really did what? I don't really dig Sparkle!Josh's style but I have to say that it's got to suck to be eliminated this week.

Robb should've been called out on not following through with the colour scheme (the huge poker chips were lavender and white in his sketch but rainbow-coloured in actuality). And then he goes and drapes them with even more shiny white fabric. Ew!
