The Challenge: Rivals #2

New thread :)

TFTNT!

I`m very happy for Johnny/Tyler and Paula that they won. Tyler really sucked it up despite his illness and gave a great effort, which helped him and Johnny get the win.

As for Wes and Kenny, i felt bad for Kenny that he didn`t win, but at the same time, he should`ve been more considerate for Wes, although his ailment is karma for being such a jerk IMO.

So no love for Mike and LeRoy? They were the ones I was rooting for.

Jamie 08-25-2011 05:37 PM

I don't have many comments. I'm not happy with the winners, but I suppose they deserved it? Although this challenge made me dislike Wes more, he & Kenny were ahead most of the challenge so it sucks that they lost at the last minute. I hate stuff like that. It doesn't seem fair that after an entire day, they all meet up at night and have the same exact night only to get a two minute head start in the morning. I don't know. I would have rather seen Kenny/Wes and DEFINITELY Cara/Laurel win, but at least they got some money out of it. Mike & Leroy did amazing!

Is the reunion next week then?

"THE CHALLENGE: RIVALS" FINALE DELIVERS ITS HIGHEST RATINGS IN SIX SEASONS

MTV Has Picked-up A 22nd Cycle of the Show, Which Was Wednesday's #1 Original Cable Series This Season

SANTA MONICA, CALIF. (August 24, 2011) - The finale of MTV's "The Challenge: Rivals" delivered its best ratings in six seasons with a season-high 2.4 P12-34 rating and 2.4 million total viewers, up 71% from last season's finale. The series was Wednesday's #1 original cable series this season, and the highest-rated season in four cycles, since 2009. In addition, the finale was the #1 original cable telecast among P12-34, and #1 in its timeslot across all TV among P12-34.

On the heels of "The Challenge: Rivals" huge finale, MTV has picked up a 22nd season of the show, which will debut in 2012.

"The Challenge: Rivals," was created for MTV by Bunim/Murray Productions. Jonathan Murray, Scott Freeman and Justin Booth serve as executive producers. Jacquelyn French is the MTV executive overseeing the series.

Source: The Nielsen Company. Live+SD P12-34 coverage ratings. "The Challenge: Rivals" premiere telecasts (6/22/11-08/24/11). Highest-rated telecast since "The Real World/Road Rules Challenge: The Gauntlet III" season finale (3/19/08; 2.7 rating). Highest-rated season since "The Duel II" (4/08/09-6/10/09; 1.7 rating). Time period rank based on P12-34 impressions.

Bring on Duel 3 :P

Yes, the reunion is next week.

That's great news about the challenge. I wouldn't mind seeing a Duel 3

I also do agree that Wes & Kenny should have gotten a longer head start than that.

Like them or not, I do think the winners deserved to win and I'd be saying that no matter who had won. This final was brutal

I even heard that, during the "Sync or Swim" challenge (the one in episode 3, where they had to grab onto a zip-line and ride as far as they can until they hit the water), Ev injured BOTH of her ribs during that challenge. However, despite being in pain, she kept it a secret from production because if they had found out they most likely wouldn't have allowed for her to continue on in the competition. I think only Kenny & Wes knew about it. And as we saw, Tyler was sick with the food poisoning the night before and wasn't 100% better for the final. For me that makes him & ev winning more impressive

I admit, I did think it was funny that it took Jenn & Mandi like 278336747 hrs to complete the campsite puzzle

cant wait for the reunion!

i really didnt care who won, honestly. but i was kinda roooting for wes/kenny.

Jamie 08-25-2011 08:15 PM

It was hard to care TOO much about who won at the end there because they were all so close and they were all going to win some money, but it does suck for them that it was SOOO close and 1st place won twice as much as 2nd!

Reminds me of Evan & Brad in whatever challenge they were seconds apart on. Kinda sad.

Aaron2005 08-25-2011 08:38 PM

That was the Duel 2 final with Evan & Brad. Brad & Wes were pretty close in the Duel 1 final as well, but I think Evan & Brad were a little closer

I never knewe that about Ev. That just makes me respect her a bit more. She really kept out of the drama this season and really deserved to win. I'm happy for her.

And I also thought that was hilarious about Jenn and Mandi. I thought it was funnier that when they first left the campground puzzle, that they thought it looked anything like the original campsite. The tent wasn't even properly set up!

Jamie 08-26-2011 07:04 PM

yeah, Ev was way less annoying than usual. Wes took over this season in that category. I seriously like him less, and I used to like him A LOT. He's now on Twitter..

Yeah they were doomed from the start. It's kind of ironic that they struggled so much with the kayaking, seeing how they won that kayaking challenge about mid way through the season. In the final, it was like they had never set foot in a kayak before and kept spinning around in circles in the kayak while the other teams got light years ahead of them

This season created some new "rivalries". Potential teams for a Rivals 2 if they were to do one

Ty & Adam (RW Las Vegas 2)
Jonna & Camila
Jasmine & Theresa
CT & Wes
Jenn & Cara Maria
Paula & Laurel
Wes & Kenny again - Most teams left on good terms with each other but seeing how Kenny reacted towards Wes at the end of the final, you might as well pair these two up again

blonde bombshell 08-26-2011 08:45 PM

So wanted Kenny and Wes to win. I loved watching Kenny carry Wes up that mountain like a beast.

That final challenge was BRUTAL. Oh my lord. Johnny posted on twitter that they had to go do the wheel barrow challenge again every time they went back to the tents, awful.

I'm happy they picked up another season!

Jamie 08-26-2011 09:45 PM

I can actually see a Rivals 2! Hope it's not the next challenge or anything, but I can see the possibilities... The people you named seem like better rivals than this show was

OMG why didn't they show that? That's rough. I thought they just ran back to the campsite and then ran back again.

CT and any of the "Mob" would be a dream team. :lmao:

Yeah that's what I thought too . That sucks that they had to re do that part everytime

Also, why was Wes putting those rocks in his socks?

Oh and I loved the smirk Cara Maria had on her face when they were standing on the rocks and Kenny mentioned how he had to carry Wes and she was saying how it makes up for all of Wes's cruelness towards her
