Article from TV Guide
Quote:
Well, $4 million worth of pink rose petals has been swept up, following Trista and Ryan's Wedding, and it's time to move on. Starting Jan. 14 on ABC, the next Bachelorette follows in the bride's footsteps, seeking a man of her own. This time, it's Bob Guiney's reject, Meredith Phillips, who'll get her group-date on. And, as usual, Chris Harrison will be along for the ride as host. According to him, this season's stunner has all the makings of a fine dating-show drama queen.

"I hate even using the word, because it is a reality show, but Meredith is probably the most 'real' person we've had," says Harrison. "With Trista, the great thing for those of us producing [The Bachelorette] was that she always [understood it was] a TV show, and did what she needed to do." As for Phillips, though, "if she's happy, she's happy. If she's sad, if she's pissed off, that's it. She is who she is," he assesses. "She's not faking it."

That lack of poker face led to some wet eyes on last season's Bachelor. Remember when the 30-year-old makeup artist from California lost her beloved grandma, just hours before what turned out to the saddest one-on-one date kissy-face Guiney ever had? "The whole thing with her grandmother, it kind of sucked, because she was cheated out of the whole process," says Harrison. "I'm glad that she's getting to go through [this] for real, on her own terms. No one could have a normal dating process when you're taking [a guy] to your grandmother's grave."

Not that looking for love on national TV is all that normal, anyway. But despite the recent Andrew Firestone-Jenn Schefft split and rumors of Bob and Estella Gardinier's estrangement, Harrison is quick to point out that only his show has successfully sent anyone to the altar. "After all the rip-off shows, you know for a fact that none of [them] are going to create a couple that [will] last. You watch Average Joe and you know it's a joke," he laughs. "They literally took our script, at times, and used it on their show. It's hysterical."

Let's just hope Miss Meredith ends up with a reason to smile, too.

Oh my gosh, I'm so confused as to why you have two of the most similiar usernames - ahhh, Cher, how could you watch The OC over The Bachelorette?!

Anyways, ahhh, this season looks AWESOME! The previews just look really good... I cannot believe how absolutely stunning Meredith always looks, I cannot understand how people are constantly calling her unattractive

More comments later!

Lots of Love!

I loved the episode last night, and I agree I think Meredith looks stunning in all the previews I have seen. I loved the dress and earrings she was wearing last night. Did anyone else notice that a lot of the guys are shorter then her? I am really liking Chad from Buffalo and Brad from Grand Rapids, Michigan. Okay so maybe I just like Brad because I live in Grand Rapids, but whatever Hmm I am not sure what I think about all the guys giving her gifts last night, I think that some of them were wannabe Ryans.

Heathyr- I have a thing over privacy, so I use Çherié_£u£u when I'm at work or at my mom's work seeing how I'm a mod.

I did watch The O.C. over The Bachelorette, and I saw some of it. My mom thinks this show is ridicilous but I like that. I love Meredith to death, but hope she doesn't turn into a Bob and I wind up hating her. So what guys are left?

cmupjer, I live in metro Detroit, so Brad caught my eye as well

From the preview of the whole season it looks like she's gonna have a rough time deciding. She seems so much more outgoing now that she is 'in charge'. Yet, I still find it crazy when I hear "I'm in love", "she's my soulmate", "I want to marry her" all from different guys. I must say, she has quite a nice selection of men to pick from!

I still don't get how in the world! after just a couple of hours she can remember the names of the guys she wants to keep. I'd be pointing and saying "you, and you, and you."

eta: did anyone else notice there were 4 guys with the occupation of Pharmaceutical Sales? Sorry, I just pick up on weird things.

mollymac ~ I noticed the same thing about all the pharmaceutical sales reps. Another occupation that always seems to be prevelant on this show is Mortgage Brokers for both men and women. You would think they would want a little more variety.

I don't get that either. There must be something behind the scenes that we don't see.

I thought she looked beautiful in the black dress. I'm looking forward to the upcoming episodes. Sadly none of the guys caught me eye.

I got home late, (and taped O.C.) but I caught the end of the Bachelorette, where she picks the guys. Yea, I STILL don't understand how they memorize 25 names after a couple hours. I was joking, how I would probably just say a guy's name, like Matt, John, Mike, Chris, and see if a guy would step forward. lol. I would never be able to remember their names. The worst part of the show, but it always makes me laugh... when Chris Harrison steps forward right before the final rose is handed out and says, "Gentlemen, this is the final rose." I'm like, "Come on Chris!! I think they KNOW that!" so frustrating, so dramatic. lol.

I know what you mean, there will be 3 people left and she'll only be able to hand out 2 roses and he'll say after the first one "Gentlemen, this is the final rose of the evening..." *shaking head* that guy! haha.

Lots of Love!

Did the guy that gave her the slippers make it past the first night? I couldn't remember which guy gave them to her since they all looked alike during the rose ceremony.

Yeah that guy ended up getting the "mysterious white rose" that ensures him a one on one date with her in the next episode. I am not sure how I feel about him, I think the slippers were a more appropriate gift then the Tiffany bracelet Trista got from Russ last year.
