Hotdogs court out

Former Big Brother housemate Hotdogs failed to appear in court last Thursday on charges relating to a public sex act he allegedly committed last month.

The housemate, otherwise known as Simon Deering, forfeited $100 bail when he skipped his appearance in the Cairns Magistrates Court. His lawyer has sought an adjournment until September.

Deering was arrested in Cairns in the early hours of July 25 after allegedly being caught in public while in the middle of an indecent act with a 22-year-old woman. He was charged with public nuisance and released the following day on $100 bail.

Deering has denied there was anything sexual about his actions, insisting he was merely urinating in the street. He was in Cairns at the time for a promotional Big Brother appearance.

Earlier this week fellow housemate Constance Hall was charged with public drunkenness in Melbourne, apparently proving that this season's group of Big Brother housemates are a far more rowdy group than those of previous years.

Brothers take out Big prize

Sydney journalist Tim Brunero was tipped by punters to take out Big Brother 2005, but the Logan twins, Greg and David, pooled their resources to win and become $836,000 richer.

According to fan website Behind Big Brother, David is rumoured to have taken out a $100,000 loan to pay for votes toward his brother Greg.

Some fans were infuriated by the Logans' victory, arguing that the Logans had an unfair advantage because David was effectively able to vote for himself.

Unions NSW launched an e-mail and flyer campaign as a last minute effort to fix the result in favour of Tim, a former employee. The Construction Forestry Mining and Energy Union, Unions NSW and the Maritime Union of Australia lobbied members to spend $5 or $10 to vote out Tim's rival.

But Big Brother executive producer Kris Noble said he doubted either campaign did much to influence the nationwide vote.

Greg and David first entered the Big Brother house in the guise of one person (Logan), without the other housemates knowing. Their true identities were soon revealed and David was voted out some weeks later, but the pair still played as one.

I think people should just accept that the Logans won, and that be that. Theres always gonna be people who will disagree or whatever with the outcome. I think all the housemates should be happy with their outcome, because they all got something out of it, whether it be public/guest appearances, or a car/prizes.

Coz they all got a car, right? Except for Constance & Nelson But that was their own fault, for lying when they knew not to. So bleh.

Has anyone seen Hotdogs new show?

I accept that they won but I don't think they were the overall favourites, just the least offensive.

Greg's a nice guy and I'm happy for him but he didn't really do anything risky in the house and was very guarded. Also, the Logans were barely up for eviction. Even if they had been, they wouldn't have been evicted over the intruders.

However, I'm not sure whether they had an advantage. If anything, Dave was a massive liability to Greg. If Greg had lost, people would be complaining that being a twin was a disadvantage.

I bet the $100 000 loan is bs. Obviously 45% of people disagree with the result (probably even more but most people don't bother voting). This will always happen in reality shows but people with sour grapes over their phone bills take it a bit too far. It's rigged! The voting systems unfair! They would not be saying it had their favourite won.

I think Tim lost the show in the last few weeks when we saw a different side to him. Greg however seemed to bloom in the last few weeks because he finally had a bit of attention as the house became less populated.

This is the 1st series of BB I have watched. I must say it was very addictive even though I loathed most of the housemates. I will definitely tune in next year.

Big Brother keeps watch

Network Ten's controversial reality show Big Brother will almost certainly open its doors to another group of housemates in 2006.

David Mott, Ten's general manager of network programming said: "[the network is] thrilled with Big Brother's success," and announced there would be a sixth season of the program next year.

Monday's final episode of the fifth season, where the Logan twins Greg and David took out the $836,000 prize, did not rate as highly as the final shows of previous years. However, this season's ratings have generally been higher than in 2004.

Big Brother 2005 has been one of the most controversial seasons of the popular show. A formal investigation was launched two months ago to determine whether the television code of practice had been breached by Big Brother Uncut, the program that airs the housemates' most sexually explicit actions.

Coalition MPs are now considering a plan to give the communications minister the power to pull programs from TV screens if they repeatedly violate classification guidelines.

They should have put David into lock-down for the remainder of the competition. & now that they've won he should have to return his prizes. He doesn't need / deserve them now that they're $836, 000 richer.

Agreed, i don't think they were the public very favourite, but i think they were well enough liked.

Yes, so does Dave still get to keep his prizes from his eviction? And doesn't Greg get a car? Haven't the past winners won a car, too?
So if Greg just won BB, wouldn't Dave be worth more? Seeing he has the same prize money as Greg, but also a car, holiday etc etc.

Actually compared to Hotdogs' show, BB Uplate looks like Emmy winning material. If you happen to be up at 12:30 one night, just flick over for about 2 minutes, because that's literally all you'll be able to watch of it.

There's no real set. There's a bar thingo and a stool that Hotdogs sits on. The backdrop is a blue screen with stars and a moon on it. He has absolutely no personality. He tries to be funny and fails miserably. He tries to be cool and fails miserably. I feel embarrassed just watching him try(hard). He doesn't seem to know WTF is actually going on. He just talks crap and introduces little word games for people at home to play. And that's pretty much all the show is. It looks like ch10 had a budget of about $50 for the show (and only spent half of it). It's one of those shows that so incredibly tragically lame that you've just gotta see it in order to fully comprehend how bad it is. I'm actually surprised it hasn't already been axed.

Speaking of Hotdogs....

Dogs 'double act'
From Sydney Confidential
August 24, 2005

THAT sex act Big Brother loser Hotdogs allegedly participated in with a woman outside a Cairns nightclub last month wasn't the only one that night, according to police.
The 27-year-old Channel Ten personality has been charged over another alleged sex act on the same night - only with a different woman.

Simon "Hotdogs" Deering was arrested and charged with public nuisance for allegedly having a sex act performed on him following a Big Brother eviction party at a local resort.

Security cameras caught a woman allegedly performing the act on the former housemate. A 22-year-old woman has been charged.

Deering flew into Cairns at the weekend to discuss with police his antics in the early hours of July 25.

But rather than clear things up, he was slapped with the fresh charges.

A police source said more security footage showed him allegedly involved in a similar act with another woman.

He also allegedly exposed himself outside a nearby nightclub.

The extra charges come as the Ten Network catapulted the former Big Brother inmate to stardom this week as host of his own late-night game show.

The network distanced itself from the latest allegations yesterday.

"We are comfortable with the way Simon is handling this matter with the Cairns police," a spokeswoman said.

"The matter is being handled by Simon and the Cairns police and he has nothing further to add," Deering's manager said.

He's all class, aint he?

Greg didn't get a car. Remember right before she announced the winner, Gretel said that the winner would get the money and the runner up would win the car. Really, they couldn't have gotten away with giving both the twins the car and all the other prizes, what with the whole, "they're competing as one person" thing they never let us forget. Wouldn't have been fair if they'd been competing as one person, but they each still got a car and a holiday and phones.

Haven't seen uplate.

Saw Ves + Dog on Ready Cook. They were OK but it's a dumb show. Ves won $10 000 for her charity. It was ironic that HDs (they introduced him as Simon) cooked battered sausages when his charity was the stroke foundation.
