Aussie Survivor Palau thread - coz we always arrive on the island a few days late...

Figured I'd start a thread for Aussies who are trying to remain unspoiled, (though I rarely stay unspoiled myself when it comes to Survivor).

My hubby was reading a non-spoilerish review from someone who's seen the first ep, and they reckon that if you're one of those people who thinks the show has been kinda dull in the last few seasons, (and I think that probably accounts for pretty much everyone ), that the first ep of Palau will totally win you over and make you love the show again. So if that's anything to go by, here's hoping for a cracker of a season.

Anyway, it starts here on Tuesday the 22nd (my b'day, woohoo!) at 7:30.

If it's starting on the 22nd, at least you won't be too far behind, only a few days.

Yeah, Suvivor is pretty much the only show where we aren't woefully behind. I think they like to keep up with the US eps so that we get the big finale without too much of a delay. If there was a big gap in time, then anyone who cared about the outcome would just go online to find out what happened and not bother watching it when it aired here.

I've only seen one ad for it in the last couple of days, and it totally took me by surprise! I figured at the end of the ad they'd just have "returning soon to ch9" or something, but no, it's actually next Tuesday!

Yeah I have noticed that about Survivor, they always try and show it straight away. Pity the same can't be said for other shows *cough*AmazingRace*cough*

u know what i just realised that in the tv guide it says starstruck for tonight...so does that mean that it was a last min decision to have survivor start tonight.... i would have thought they would have had it planned for weeks...

Thanks, Erin. I've gotta make sure I remember to set the video tonight, coz I'll be out for my b'day dinner when Survivor's on.

They seem to change Startstruck's timeslot pretty much every week. Doesn't bother me coz I don't watch it. You'd think that they would have planned Survivor's timeslot for ages though, huh? Wonder what the deal was.

Happy belated birthday Phee

you know what I think'd be cool for once, when they all get on the island - together, like last night - for Jeff to just leave them all to stew for 4 or 5 days With enough water etc of course. But you just know he's gonna rock up the very next morning.

Glad the singing lady went as well, she was a bit much to take

And also shocked that Coby didn't pick Angie. Those two are the only names I can remember I think. I like Angie anyway, she's different

I was hoping they would either be two tribes living on one beach or be all one tribe each fending for them selves, I reckon it would have been much more interesting. Still it was a great first episode, and yeah I'm glad the singing lady left, I was surprised that the final pick between the guys and whoever it was picked the older guy over the younger one who was clearly stronger, but then i figured it was kinda smart because it got rid of one strong person early on.

Still it will be interesting to see how the season pans out....

That singing woman, seriously how dumb was she? Did she honestly think that belting out cheesy songs was gonna make people want to keep her around?!

I'm glad Jolanda's gone. Overbearing much?

I agree that it'd be sweet if they left 'em there for a few days not knowing what was going on. That'd seriously mess with their heads. But as it was, they still gave them just enough time to start forming little alliances, right before they all got split up.

Had to laugh when the tribe that won the challenge capsised and their fire making stuff sank. Was a smart idea to just take the fire, so I wasn't surprised that they kicked butt in the challenge.

Happy very belated Birthday Phee... thanks for the Aussie Thread!

Oh my god... Wanda the singing English teacher! Thank god she got back on the boat... I would have killed her. Why didn't anyone pick the little blonde dude?

I thought the old 'pick your team' thing was quite 'school-ish' and I felt really sorry for Angie. So what if she's covered in tats? She looks cool and I'm glad she's staying on for another week. I have to say that I'm rooting for Tom, the NY fireman and I had to giggle when someone asked him to make fire "Nah, I put them out". I seems the constestant selection has gone very 'pretty' this time around... how many little blonde poppets can we have on one island?

Got to start learning some new names!

The last season was a little blah. It only got good when Ami went a little mental. So hopefully Survivor X is a little more interesting.

Yeah, Happy Belated Bday Phee

I never saw any ads on tv promoting Survivor. I found out it was on about 10 mins b4hand, on the internet.

And the logo weirds me out. It doesnt look as... effective as the logos from previous seasons. I dunno, maybe i've just noticed something no1 else has

I thought it was pretty pointless of having 20 people if 2 never actually made it past half an hour in the game.
And i agree, the pick your team thing was too school-ish.
I hope the season gets better as it goes on.

PiXiE - I only saw one ad by chance on the Sunday previously... I would have been getting ready to hang ***** on the Starstuck people, then be suprised!

And yes, the new logo is very strange

Thanks for all the b'day wishes, everyone.

The picking teams think was kinda juvenile I guess, but I thought it was interesting that it wasn't just one person picking each team. Mixes it up a bit.

I can see that the sharks are gonna be this season's volcanos. After a few episodes of the last season, whenever they'd throw in yet another random, pointless shot of a bloody volcano, I'd wanna chuck stuff at the TV. And after only one ep, I can just tell it's gonna be the same thing this time with the sharks.
