This just in from tvshowsondvd.com:

We've known that season 1 of Popular has been coming for awhile, but the June 25th issue of Entertainment Weekly mentions that season 2 is already in the works, however no date is mentioned.

The article also mentions that fans can look forward to "a gag reel, outtakes, cast commentary, and deleted scenes - including an extended verison of Lily and Carmen's same-sex kiss." You can get more information about the DVD release on the DVD Release Info page.

We'll keep our eyes open for more information on the second season set, but we don't expect to hear anything official for awhile.

I wondered if they ever filmed a full kiss. That's great news though that we'll finally get to see.

Well you know how The WB was about that. It would have aired even before the Willow/Tara kiss. With Murphy at the helm, I was pretty sure it just ended up getting edited out.

I was suprised by the announcement that the Season 2 DVDs are already in the works, considering S1 hasn't hit the streets yet and Buena Vista doesn't know if they've got a successful sale on their hands. This is the same studio that released Once & Again Season One on DVD and never followed it up with another boxed set. Anyway, I'm glad to hear the news!

I'm still mad about that one. I hate it when studios don't follow through with things. I'm just glad we're getting confirmation of Season Two. I would hate them to release the first season and not follow up.

On the plus side. I found my tapes and having a marathon!

I really think I'm getting into the Carmen/Lily ship. I've never really picked up on it before, but they've got so many shippy moments leading up to "Caged". I can't believe I never picked up on it before.

I saw it too, especially in the first season. Of course I always liked Lily and Mary Cherry, just for the freaky factor

Yeah there is a fair amount with everybody. Oh and what is it with everyone being shippable with everybody else? It's very odd but I can pretty much ship all the kids with each other.

Well, according to the season one finale...Krupps announced that some would be dabbling in bisexuality (which I was excited to hear) and the zoomed in on Harrison, but they never followed through with that storyline because the WB execs copped out and forced the writers to change their whole direction.
