He did mention that he was working on a long scheme, so he probably doesn't want to just escape jail and be a fugitive... he'll gather forces while commanding things inside.

true I can see him being more powerful, and now he knows something about matt and will try and use it against him
after IF I did watch s2 again, so much happens in each episodes it get all jumbled together __________________
