We've never actually met her mom. Sara's mentioned that her mom, Laura, was a hippie, and we know the backstory from both ND and Committed, but that's it so far

No problem. Sara's my favorite character, so anything we find out about her I absorb like a sponge.

Hmmm... don't know on that last question...

You may want to post that on off topic.... also just for future reference be careful about double posting too, okay I'm guilty of it too sometimes, but just do your best

Thanks much!

I have been inspired by WtG to write my first fanfic but being from the UK i am not altogether sure on some terms and stuff. Could someone please answer these qus for me. Much appreciaited.

1) When you finish high school do you go to University or college?
2) Is is dorms or halls you live in?
3) does the word dorm refer to your room or the building. If room what do you call the building?
4) how does the whole frat houses thing work?

Well I think I can answer 3 of the 4 for you...

1) It can be either here in the states... Colleges are typically smaller versions of Universities... I have gone to both, and that was the biggest thing I noticed. Lots more people/students at universities...

2) Again, could be both... I think I knew them as dorms, though some of the names of the dorms were like "Striker Hall" for example...

3) To me, the phrase 'dorm' means the building. The individual residences within are the 'rooms'

4) The whole frat thing is alien to me, so hopefully someone else can help you there...

Have fun w/ your fic!

Thanks so much. We dont have dorms here just call them halls and rooms. Universities are where you do your degrees and post grads etc, colleges are for before then.

Just the whole frat thing. would it be true to say a certain type of person joined a frat house. Are they as big an popular as we are lead to beleive in the UK? We dont have anything like that and In a way Im glad they see (to us anyway) to be very elitist!

I'm pretty sure frats are fairly popular in the States. Then again, I'm Canadian, so I'm not 100% sure, but my cousin goes to school in the States and her best friend's boyfriend is in a frat.

Guys, I've just recently gotten into CSI Vegas, and I just borrowed Season 5 from a friend, and will be borrowing Season 4 from another friend. But since I want to see all the seasons, I'm planning on buying S1-S3 for myself. Which one do you guys recommend I buy first?

In my mind fraternities are generally for the party-type personality... athletes, the 'populars' so yeah, I guess it's generally thought of that a certain type of person would join a fraternity...

I was never interested in that type of 'community'/party group/circle of friends because well... I guess I'm a little like Gil... way too serious and focused about school and academics. Plus I had my son when I was a junior in college so that probably curbed any wild partying or drinking behaviors because I was busy being a mommy...

EphramIsHot - I'm not sure which would be the best to recommend to you... I mean you can't go wrong with any of them... The only set I've managed to purchase thus far is the 1st season. So I naturally would probably say that one... start with the beginning. It's weird to rewatch them now and see how much Grissom changed from S1 to later seasons... Maybe someone else with have a stronger argument/opinion on which would be the best...

Girls join sororities (I think that spelling is correct)

I think hazing definitely goes on... but again, never have wanted to join that type of thing so I'm not the best person to ask...

To me junior college is like community college... which is a smaller school (generally) where people go to get their basic studies out the way. Then they typically transfer to a university or college to concentrate their studies on a specific study area (aka: their 'major')

Me either... I think he met her at a seminar or conference as she was getting out of school, and he 'recruited' her to come to Vegas to work...

Not 100% sure of the details/accuracy of all that though... Just is my understanding.
