Yeah, I got where he was coming from too - it actually amazes me how so many people attack him for that scene & are so blind to what he was trying to do. He realized how much Fred cared about him & knew that she would be hurt when he just disappeared so he was trying to make her hate him so that it would be easier for her. He didn't care if she hated him for the rest of his life, because he knew that it would be easier for her to believe that he was really just a bad guy who took off & not that he had died.
But Fred knew him too well & knew that something bad must have happened to make him act that way  __________________

Wow I didn't know people attacked him for that scene, but I guess when people don't ship a pairing, they'll try to take anything bad they can get. lol And agree with everything you typed. He just tried to push her away because he knew his life was almost over, luckily for him and wisely for Fred... she saw right through him. I just loved her conversation with Angel and Cordy after the fact, she telling them that something's wrong with Charles because he broke up with her. |
