How would you have written the Spike/Dawn relationship in S7?

Hmm... I don't know about writing the whole relationship but I would just like them to have a discussion of what happened at the end of S6 with him and Buffy. We saw Buffy try to explain things to Dawn but that was about it. Spike didn't feel he should explain, that it wasn't right because what he did was wrong, but Dawn loved Spike and then it just stopped. She barely cared about him. I would have liked her to take him having his soul with a little more consideration.

I agree. That Spike had gotten a soul should certainly have mattered more to Dawn. Ecept for one scene where the scoobies are discussing it, ans she asks what it means, learly confused about it, she hardly pay attention to this pretty remarkable fact at all.

I guess that's another thing they didn't have time for Though personally I'd have probably had the same reaction as Dawn did.

I'd probably have the same reaction as Dawn too but I would still be more intrigued if nothing else. And we have to remember that Spike and Dawn were very close in S5... and even in bits of S6. Then it just disappeared after that. I know that Marti didn't want them having scenes together because *gasp* people might ship them together but I would have liked to see them at least get back to speaking terms. I know what Spike did to Buffy was horrible but I have a feeling that if it hadn't been Xander that had just blurted it out to Dawn, which was NONE of his business, and it had been Buffy or Spike then their friendship might have been able to be repaired in S7... or at least on the mend.

Let's not forget that Buffy's business and her life in general is always Xander's business

I don't think so It seemed as if Dawn wasn't allowed much in terms of a storyline and whatever she was allowed had to do with being jealous of the potentials and reading.

Of course it is. Xander should control all in regards to Buffy.

Well I meant if they had allowed that screen time to happen.

Oh well yeah then things would have been different I don't know if I see Dawn buying the soul thing though... it seemed as if Buffy was the only person to really believe it and the chasm it caused worked for the story they wanted in S7.

What do you mean buying the whole soul thing?

Spike getting his soul for Buffy and no longer being a threat to the others even though he was being manipulated by the First.

That was just the shortest way to write it.

Oh.

But Dawn always saw the good in Spike. I don't think it would be hard for her to believe he got the soul for Buffy because of what he had done, but I also believe that's what happened and you don't. He was a threat though but I don't think they could have handled it any different. I mean the only alternative would have been to kill Spike and that was just not going to happen.

Yeah because I'm going to insult/bash Spike in a Spike thread That's one step down from going to the JM Board and writing a synopsis on Touched

Well the thing is that Buffy was the only person who was supposed to believe in Spike in S7 and vice versa, IMO. So maybe it's better that you got no Spike/Dawn scenes instead of what might have been written.

It has happened. I wouldn't think you would, but I know that's what you think because you've said it before in other discussions.

That's true. The only scene we got with Spike/Dawn wasn't so good for them. I just wish they had had some kind of reconciliation before he "died".
