I definitely agree with you on that.
The beginning of Season 6 started off very powerful for Spuffy. Spike was the only person that really understood Buffy, and who she could turn to. She told him everything, and opened up to him about heaven and her feelings. Their relationship was a bit complicated but it was great to watch, of course when they started sleeping together in Smashed, so much angst between them followed because Buffy was just in a dark place and she was using him... even when she was using him, it was the only time she really did feel alive.

Season 7 is of course my favorite. Season 5 was great for Spuffy because it was the start of romantic hints, and Spike falling in love with Buffy, or realizing he's in love. We got some moments in Season 4 but not much. Season 3, that one episode Lover's Walk had a great quote that kind of foreshadowed Buffy relationship with Spike... how she could fool everybody besides herself and Spike. Season 2 is the beginning, enemies with too much chemistry.

It's more that Buffy was trying to push him a way b/c she was already having feelings for him & that is why she could only feel alive with Spike. It was easy to revert back to being mean to him & pretending they never had any connection to push him away.

Spike is the only man that wouldn't let her. Buffy thought he would leave b/c they all did. She didn't want to go through it again. It's telling how diff. she acted toward Spike & being right after they kissed. Buffy had serious abandonment issues. This is why she put up walls around her heart.

Then you add how Spike wasn't supposed to be to love without a soul b/c Angel couldn't.

Buffy to be the slayer had to think all vamps were evil though. It was just assumed that Angel with a soul was good & without was a monster like the rest. The only thing that I've read Joss ever say is that Spike is unique.

Riley said Buffy would never let him in.

I don't see that as just being about her body.

I think if Spuffy didn't have a connection already that Buffy never would have helped him or even want to have any contact at all. I'm not saying she him loved yet but her feelings must have at been powerful. We did see her admit to being hurt jealous & she said did have feelings for him Season 6.

Plus it didn't take long for Buffy to fall completely in love with Spike.

It's all really complicated.



I wouldn't want it to be simple. It shows Spuffy are a complex couple.

That really goes with the thread title to me.

I don't know where to post this since Buffy is already on TV, but ABC Family is putting it in the summer schedule along with Dawson's Creek beginning June 29th.
