I was only a teen at that point and was liking what was thrown at me and I enjoyed the story but as an adult, I don't see it much.

I even actually understand Angel/Cordy more.... Although I won't ever ship them.
I think I am having an issue with people loving a person before they truly know a person... but I guess Angel just loved her strength...

But it's sort of like with Ross... loving Rachel and than dating her and expecting the fantasy version. I love someone who TRULY KNOWS someone and than fall in love with them, whether it's a fried, a colleague or something other than how a person looks physically or how you believe someone will act or be.

I don't think Angel nor Buffy really knew anything about each other. lol

You've summed up how I feel about a lot of ships there too, I think that's why I tend to like the relationships that come on later in the series... even though they're the ones that get screwed over most of the time

This is so opposite from how Spike acted towards his mother... and it's probably because his mother was nice and not abusive and he was just a poet... Angel on the other hand was different when he was Liam...
