Are there any shows out that where you think 'Hmm oh they're like Buffy, they could be like Angel and there's Spike etc'?

Someone mentioned on the Twilight board the other day that Edward was like Angel, Bella is Buffy, Jacob is Spike, Rosalie is Cordelia, Emmett is Xander... and I can see the similarities.

Are there any more that anyone can think of?

Actually when the show ended, I had expected there to be copy cat shows as what sometimes happens when a show is popular but that has never happened.

Actually I agree, BTVS has done well as that one-of-a-kind type show that I don't really think has been copied to a full extent, which I'm so glad about.

I don't really mean shows that are obviously copying the characters, but just vaguely similar set-ups or characters. Like because Emmett is the funny one in Twilight he reminds me of Xander, because Rosalie is a bit of a princess - she's Cordy and because Edward is depressed and kinda broody - he's Angel and those are the only similarities.

Another example - On Pushing Daisies:

Ned: Buffy
Chuck: Angel
Olive: Xander
Emerson: Giles



Ned & Chuck are in love but can't really be together, Olive secretly lusts after Ned and doesn't realise what's right in front of her and Emerson is the one who finds out all the info etc.

Well in ways Veronica Mars reminds me of Buffy.

Logan- Spike
Duncan- Angel

Thought Duncan and Veronica dont compare to Buffy and Angel.

Oh yeah that's a good one! I don't watch the show, but from what I've heard, that sounds pretty good to me.

Well before Buffy aired there were practicually no shows surrounded by female leads or heroines. Most of the television shows were either ensemble cast or male leads. I would say that Buffy revolutionized the supernatural genere by adding empowered female leads in primetime television. I honestly can't name any shows prior to Buffy that really had a strong female lead as the major protagonist and in a way all of the shows that are centered around female characters all owe a tribute to Joss and Buffy THe Vampire Slayer.

Everything from Charmed, Veronica Mars to Grey's Anatomy and Desperate Housewives.

Another thing BtVS added was the incorportation of real life into super natural circumstances which prior to Buffy wasn't really emphasized. Dead Like Me, Smallville, Charmed and Joan of Arcadia are shows that took those elements. So I guess every major female lead has alittle bit of Buffy in her. Mosto f those shows also have the same formula's that Buffy took as well.

Andie = a Buffy / Willow hybrid I guess
Blane = Angel
Steff ( you James Spader) = Spike
Duckie = Xander
Jena = Willow again

Guess who I rooted for Andie to end up with? Oh and if you think Spangel was slashy well um I think it's way more obvious that Steff note only wanted to **** Andie, but Blane too. The movie should have just end in a threesome really.

I've seen some compare the Jack-Kate-Sawyer love triangle of Lost to Angel-Buffy-Spike, although I think Kate is more Faith than Buffy.

I'm recently watching Charmed for the first time, and Cole really seems like Spike to me. He never knew love until he met Phoebe, he's a demon (at least half demon like Spike), he fell in love with Phoebe and he gave up his demon side to be with her.

Cole also has some aspects of Angel in him too.
