Xander didn’t appear too devastated by Anya’s death in the finale. I guess the group had mentally prepared that not everyone was going to make it out alive and they were happy they had stooped yet another apocalypse? :shrug:

It's hard because they had like 20 seconds to give him a reaction & making it emotional would have ruined that moment. I think that it hadn't fully sunk it yet & that he was genuinely proud of her for becoming as much as a hero that she did :sigh:

Plus, I think that after the shock of everything they went through had worn off, (it must have all felt a bit surreal), Xander would have grieved for her & would never ever fully move on from her imo :sigh:

^ It could also be because of our usual gripes about Season 7's poor writing :mad:

Well, yeah there's that whole issue too! :lol:

Like how they didn't talk about their break up until 7x16 (!), slept together & it was made clear that he clearly wasn't over her, then nothing for a few eps, until they just seemed back together in the last 2/3 eps without any scene to explain it! :mad:

Yep :mad: Definitely poor writing.

They were just completely shafted :(

I still don't understand how so many of the main characters could be completely sidelined in the last season :shrug:

:shrug: They were appealing to one percentage of fans, I think

I have to agree....unfortunately no one seems to realize that the majority of fans loved all the characters & relationships :(
