I don't think he would forget. Though it might be a mercy for him if he did, considering his lifespan. He was arguably in that hell dimension pre-BTVS S3 for hundreds of years and his memory came back to him pretty quickly after TPTB brought him back. He still remembered the Fanged Four and all their ~adventures even though they were already really old memories without the addition of his hell dimension stay. Being eternal means he could be missing Cordy indefinitely.

And if he did forget...how long would it take? 1000 years? Longer?

Poor Angel. It really would be awful to outlive everyone you've ever loved.

I suppose that's a valid point but Cordy continued to be his motivator, his comfort even after her death. Her memory is what has kept him fighting strong.
Even if he did still make some idiot moves because unfortunately, that requires her to actually be there to scold him, nothing and no one is ever perfect.

It's possible.
I've read fics where he intentionally gets more hurt than he needs to in demon fights just give her more to patch up and himself more Cordy touch time.
I can't think of any specific ones off the top of my head but I know I've read it.

You're not making the cordy dragon up, that happens. It's in ATS.
Unfortunately, we don't see it actually happen, this is the only reference we get:


The next closest reference is in a Spike prequel to ATS in which Spike stumbles in on an injured Angel while he's in the long process of healing using some form of rituals and comforting himself by talking to a Cordy hallucination. It was during this time that the dragon received her name as it thought he was talking to it.

We, however, also see Angel and the dragon treating the name as sacred, the dragon will only trust those who use it and Angel only gives it to two people, Connor and Groo.

She's more than just acknowledged.
She makes an appearance to Angel on the astral plane Skip/'Birthday' style as a legitimate higher being and IMO this is when she legit gets him back on track vs. YW.
The main details are on her Wikia page in the 'Death and Afterlife' section.

It's a beautiful albeit brief reunion. He even tells her that he loves her!

Apart from that and even the dragon, there is still some strong establishment that Cordy is always in his heart and the wound of her death is still pretty raw. Here's another glimpse:
