It was the beginning of something, something extremely beautiful and different. I think he loved what they could be, and ultimately he loved what she made him feel - someone who wanted to do good, and actually be someone. I think, as he said, he saw her heart and that she wasn't some beauty queen. He saw who she really was, and he wanted to protect her and be a man for her. And this he loved.

But yes, I just love that he saw her heart. That speech is probably my favorite Angel speech from the show

Angel: I saw you before you became the Slayer.
Buffy: What?
Angel: I watched you, and I saw you called. It was a bright afternoon out in front of your school. You walked down the steps... and...and I loved you.
Buffy: Why?
Angel: 'Cause I could see your heart. You held it before you for everyone to see. And I worried that it would be bruised or torn. And more than anything in my life I wanted to keep it safe... to warm it with my own.

I can't say that Angel was in love with her, in that moment, but something about it and that moment - he did love her. I don't know. It's just Buffy and Angel

Instead of replying to everyone, I'll take the lazy route and say that I agree completely with everyone

Their connection was easily one of the simplest and most apparent in any show I've watched. You see them together on screen and you automatically know that there's something there between them. I'm glad that they cast Sarah and David in those roles because I doubt anyone else could have pulled off so must UST and maintained that type of connection over 8 years and on two seperate shows.

Put David and Sarah on screen together or anywhere near each other and even a first time watcher, this happened with me years ago, could see that they had a special connection. Just their "energies" around she other worked off one another.

Isn't it amazing that he always knows what to say? In Helpless, in WSWB, in WML, in Forever, etc. And this coming from a guy who didn't really "know her"

I honestly believe that Buffy has guessed a lot about Angel's past. I think she was waiting for him to talk about those really bad things he did as Angelus. Especially when it comes to his family

I think Angel knew her more than anyone, pretty much. Simply because they were so alike in their lifestyles and how they could always turn to each other. Angel knew who she was at heart, and he truly loved her for it. He never judged her.

I really wish we had some scenes with Angel talking about his past, kind of like in Becoming Part 1 when we saw all those flashbacks.

I wish we'd gotten that too. I had hoped that the comics would have shown us some of those moments, especially when Buffy went back to S2.

I'm new to the show. I just watched the first three seasons last month on hulu, but I remember, after I watched the first episode, I got impatient with the shows during the first season if David wasn't on. The first thing I would do was look for his name in the credits, and, if I didn't see it, I would be severely disappointed. For me, their relationship was THE relationship to care about. Everybody else was just superfluous.

I know what you mean, how in S1 I would get a tad upset if David wasn't going to be in the episode. And even in S2, the episode was always better if David was in it. I still love seeing him in the opening credits, everytime he looks so sexy

So you have yet to see S4-7?
