It was much too soon for them to have sex. But a lot of fans kept thinking they were going to and thought that theyt waited a really long time by finally making love in Surprise.

I felt that Surprise fit with who they were and the natural progression of them as a couple. It was the right time for me.

It was the right time for me too. I think that a lot of people are just really used to couples on TV and in RL jumping the gun with sex and being that sexually intimate after only a week. I like that Buffy and Angel got to know each other and said "I love you" and thought about what it would mean for their relationship before entering that stage. They didn't see sex as just a fun thing to do together. They saw it as making love, an expression of their love for each other.

In many ways BA were a typical couple. They met and it was cute because of their obvious attraction to each other but they didn't date until S2. And with that came a lot of normal situations like first dates and communication issues.

Nothing ever felt rushed to me.

I remember on SATC Carrie thought that Aidan had a problem with her because they hadn't had sex yet and it had been 10 days. She was so used to jumping into bed with guys she liked while he liked to let it happen naturally and get to know a woman and when it was right for both of them it would happen.

BTVS was not like that, at least not at the time. Teen shows in those days were a lot more realistic than the GG's and the new 90210's of now. Even the original 90210 didn't jump the gun with sex. In RL, smart people usually wait. And timing is everything.
