The sad part, it broke something in Giles, and he never recovered. I still remember him singing "Behind Blue Eyes" in season 4, alone, adrift. Angelus and Drusilla never got what they deserved.

I agree, there was Olivia, but I don't think Giles ever really opened up his heart again after Jenny.....I saw on tumblr the other day that Jenny was supposed to be the one pushing the pram with him in his dream in Restless & I think that says it all....

Wish they could've managed that in "Restless" just perfert. I could also see Jenny haunting Angel. Would have liked to see a reference to his previous stint as Angelus when he was evil in "Angel: the Series" It was in Buffy where he was shown as truly terrifying.

Seems like Watchers always got a raw deal. Giles, Wesley, the Council
Giles - loses Jenny, tortured, sidelined. Wesley - is sacked, set adrift, Joins with Angel, fails miserably (Connor), is almost killed numerous times (Justine, Angel), tries to kill the woman he loves (Fred), his girlfriend (Lilah) is killed, Angelus outs his feelings for Fred, tearing the team apart, Fred dies in his arms, breaking him, and we get to watch. Finally, he dies in a fight because he has nothing left to live for, though he does get to see Fred one last time. The Counsel - gets blown up just when they grow a spine, poor Mr. Travers. |

Can't say I have much sympathy for the Council as I do for Giles and Wesley
