It was, but it's the kind of thing we never got to see on the show. I don't know if Angel needs forgiveness for what Angelus did, but him and Giles never did talk about what happened.

Passion is one of the show's very best episodes

Not only is it one of the best episodes, but it is pivotal in so many ways. For the show as a whole, everything was a bit darker. For nearly every character, it changes them for the rest of the series.

Yes, tragic indeed, mostly because ot was so avoidable. Ms. Calendar working late at night, at the school instead of her home, where she would be safe.

It was so painful to watch when Giles came home to find her.

Seems like Angelus targeted Giles more than anybody else. First, he kills his girlfriend, then leaves her body in Giles' bed, prompting Giles to attack.
Then Angelus captures and tortures him for information, it's only when Drusilla shows him Jenny that he finally breaks. I wonder how Giles felt towards Drusilla after that. I would presume he hated her for doing that to him. |

Drusilla pretending to be Jenny was incredibly disturbing.

It was disturbing that Angelus knew just how to target Buffy's friends where it hurts.

It was disturbing, but it also gave Giles a chance to see her one last time, even though it was a lie.
The worst part came later when he realized what had happened, when he was lamenting to Xander as the latter was rescuing him. And of course, Giles' reaction to Angel returning in season 3. If anything, he was remarkably composed. I would've reacted differently to find out something like that. |

That's part of what made Angelus such a good villain, in that he knew exactly what everyone's weaknesses were, since he'd been a part of the Scoobies for a while.

And yet, he hardly touched Willow or Xander. His focus was on Buffy and Giles.
