^ Ditto. They probably had my absolute favorite dynamic on the show. He was like a father to her and she was the daughter he never had.

In s1 it seemed to me or at least they protrayed that Buffy still talked and saw him often. She spent the whole summer with him between 1 and 2.
But now if feels like she barely even have contact with him. Shame on you writers. __________________

^ I can't remember if that ever gets addressed or not. If not, it's one of the few inconsistencies on the show. Wish I could say the same about other shows I've watched.

I feel like even if he was in her life more or even if her parents were still together, Buffy and Giles would still have the same bond. There's the part of her life that her parents can't share with her or even understand.

Oh for sure. Even if her parents knew that she was a slayer from the beginning, they would've never understood what kind of sacrifices she had to make because of it. Giles was also there through a lot of her personal tragedies so he saw a part of her that her parents weren't able to.

I don't think they ever did go into how a watcher is chosen. I guess they just wait in line __________________

I don't think they ever delved into that either. I just know that Watchers are trained for years. And Giles became an outcast in s3 when he chose Buffy over the job. He was kind of punished for having a father's love for Buffy. Then Wesley came around and Buffy ignored him. So Giles wasn't technically her watcher since the middle of s3 but she still came to him for advice/guidance.

I really feel the need to wear another Buffy icon. It's been too long. Anyway, last night I got to "A New Man" in my rewatch, and I love that Buffy knew it was Giles because of his eyes. __________________

Nice to meet you Chris! And you can't go wrong with a Buffy icon.
Aw yeah that was great, she just knew him so well. April, I'm pretty sure he never gets officially reinstated, but I could be wrong. I haven't watched s4 in a long time. __________________
