That could be the discussion that fills this entire thread.

Did Joss say that there was no subtext between Buffy/Faith in season 3 & that people were just being shallow or something, but then he read an essay by a fan about all the subtext & realized that they were right?

The way I heard it Eliza Dushku from day one played Faith as having an attraction and infatuation with Buffy. It was similiar to how James played Spike in the previous season. The writers saw what she was doing with the subtext and started writing their relationship that way like Xena&Gabrielle on XWP. While there was definitely an allure and deep feelings on both sides, it was more obvious on Faith's side that she was in love and wanted to be with Buffy. Her unrequited feelings for Buffy and taking everything as a sign of rejection from Buffy is one of the driving forces of her character. It fueled her rage, despair, and need for revenge.

If Joss somehow didn't know and found out that way, how long into Fuffy did he find out? Which season?

I only remember interviews with some of the directors I think that said that ED was always playing up the subtext intentionally and they loved it...

What I would've given to hear her say a comment similiar to James' about how part of it was intentional to add it to their character while part of it was just being turned on by Sarah.

There's still so much I'm going to do with the OP.

I just started reading 50 shades of Grey and it is SO TAME compared to even my Fuffy fantasies. If Faith & Buffy ever had sex it would blow the minds of all of those people that consider that trilogy to be good erotica. And it's not even that Fuffy are both female, it's everything about them and how their personalities and sexual appetites would come together.

Why couldn't I have gotten even one kiss? Of course if I did I'd be saying "Why couldn't they have had sex at least once?" And if I got that I'd be saying, "Why couldn't they have been together for at least one season?" It goes on and on....

I still can't believe that when she was the most flirty with Buffy she ended up having a one night stand with Xander. It only lasted 8 or 9 minutes but still. I did love that soon afterwards she kept asking Buffy if she ever had sex with Xander. She wanted to share that with Buffy. She wanted to have been with someone that Buffy had been with (one of the reasons for her seduction of Angel & Riley). She wanted to maybe toss the idea of a threesome out there.

As great as the sexual chemistry and idea of them together is, it really is the grand emotion that makes me like them together as friends and romantic partners.

I cannot bring myself to read 50 shades, not to offend anyone, but from what I have read of it, it seems really badly written & you're right! I've seen so many fanfics that are so much better! & it's so funny because so many of my friends have read it & say that it's really dirty & I'm just like.....you have no idea how much smut I've read on the internet!

It's weird because I can't imagine a time where Buffy would have responded to a kiss from Faith, obviously in s3 she was all about Angel, then in s4 she was with Riley & had issues with Faith at the time & then in s7 the writers were pushing Buffy/Spike, so......they never really had a chance to be explored, even just a little bit.

What really bugs me though was that in s8 Buffy slept with a girl & it was just some random!

The woman in the 50 shades books was a virgin when it starts but she came off so clueless I'm suprised she'd even heard of sex. ha ha

I always felt that things were so heated between Buffy & Faith that the kiss couldn't happened at any time.

With Riley, their first kiss wasn't until the 10th episode (Hush) dating until the end of the 11th ep (Doomed) and sleeping together until the 12th episode (The I in Team). So they weren't serious until January. Angel left town in June. Plenty of time for Faith to make her move if she had woken up from the coma sooner.

When Angel came back in S3, she spent so long nursing him back to sanity and then having a tenative relationship with him out of fear and pain from the previous season. It really wasn't until Helpless that they were officially back together and able to get past what happened with Angelus and Hell. and then he broke up with her just when she was happiest and imagining living with him and redecorating his place and having him really return to being her sanctuary.

I think that if the writers were able to get Buffy to have sex and eventually fall in love with someone whom she has said "I hate you" "You're beneath me" and "The only chance you had with me was when I was unconscious" than they could've managed Fuffy. Especially since both relationships were full of defensiveness and weird mixed signals, Buffy's words. ha ha

I do think that they could have gone there, but it's all a matter of the story that they're telling at the time, like I said, it was B/A & then B/R, & those relationships wanted for Buffy during those times & were concentrating on, even though they kept doors open for B/F imo, but they just never got around to doing it.
