You can feel Oz's pain as he restrains himself from going back inside. He knows he might regret the decision to leave her, but he also knows that the decision is out of their hands because of everything that happened with Veruca.

they should have brought him back at that point. I'm trying to think if Seth would have been available - he was in the last Austin Powers movie, which came out around that time. But I think he would have been honored to have been asked to appear in the final season.

I know, right?

I thought it was interesting how Willow imagined Oz and Tara to be intimate with each other in 'Restless'. Her fear was that they'll pair up and she'll be left out in the cold.

I always found that an interesting choice in her dream too! I love the fact that Oz is in her dream though, it shows that he's still in her head (& heart - & always will be), but I never got what the Oz/Tara thing was about

I didn't even see the Oz and Tara part as romantic, just that they were talking and picking on Willow. I like that Oz was in Willow's dream too, showed he was still in her mind and heart.

You could very well be right

Willow was also shown to be bullied by Xander, which was pretty shocking.

Having said that, when she looks over to Oz, he does seem to be intimately whispering in Tara's ear.

My opinion is that Joss was playing with the idea that Willow was still dealing with the openness of her bisexuality AND that she was scared of letting Oz go for good.

Also, the dream possibly shows her fears that Tara's feelings for Willow were --just a faze-- (they actually argue about that in Season 5, in the episode where Glory hurts Tara.)

Just to kinda add my own ideas about that scene here; Willow, as a character, has a lot of baggage emotionally and mentally. Being bullied like she was left some pretty deep scars, as it does (I was bullied badly myself so I can vouch for that), and likely made her afraid of having that happen again. That could play into her later attempts to become more and more powerful, to prevent it.

Plus she has a whole heaping of abandonment issues, whether via people actually leaving or how she interpreted them.

She's definitely a complicated character, I just wish I knew the psychology behind that specific moment. Imo, it was meant to be seen as a romantic thing between Oz/Tara & she was the one left out in the cold... maybe that's what she was afraid of? She had been the one in the position where she had to choose one & hurt the other, & she was afraid that one day she could be on the other side of that
