That reminds me of James saying he was terrified of the reaction that fans would have to how he wasn't always the bad guy with the backstory Joss wrote.
It couldn't have fit more perfect to explain Spike's char. being so human & love being so important to him. It was partly b/c William was a good man that he could fall in love with Buffy without a soul. The Judge Season 2 told us Spike still had humanity in him while Angelus had none. Liam wasn't a total bad man but not good either though as human.    __________________
