Angel and Cordy were devistated when they lost him. Wesley helped fill the void but Doyle was never replaced nor forgotten, Wes formed his own bond with Angel and Cordelia. As time the "family" adding Gunn, Lorne, Fred and even to a certain extent, Spike.
